Method for improving the transportability of heavy crude oil
09657240 · 2017-05-23 ·

The invention relates to a method for improving the transportability of heavy crude oil. Proceeding from the disadvantages of the known prior art a method is to be provided, in which an additive can be used which is producible from a byproduct arising during mineral oil production. The method is to be performable with low expenditure and without any special safety precautions. Further the additive shall lead to an increased yield of conventional petroleum during subsequent refining. According to the invention, an aqueous hydrocarbon mixture having a chain length of predominantly C4 to C12 which does not contain any oxygen-containing hydrocarbon compounds is utilized. This is produced in the area of a mineral oil field from natural gas arising as by-product and/or mineral oil-associated gas. Thereby from the heavy crude oil a crude oil which is light in quality and transportable is obtained. During the subsequent refining of the light crude oil to give conventional petroleum, the amount of petroleum produced is increased by the amount of hydrocarbons present in the aqueous hydrocarbon mixture.

Hydrogen supply method and system

A method and system for supplying additional hydrogen from a reservoir of stored hydrogen in a salt cavern to a hydrogen pipeline to assist in meeting customer demand for hydrogen is provided. Contaminants introduced while the stored hydrogen stream is in the salt cavern may cause the crude hydrogen stream to not have the required product purity specification. The stored hydrogen is removed from the salt cavern as a crude hydrogen stream and thereafter diluted with higher purity hydrogen formed from the pipeline to form a hydrogen product stream at or below the product purity specification. The hydrogen product can be formed without removal of any of the contaminants in the crude stream, thereby creating a more cost effective and simplified supply process compared to conventional processes employing a salt cavern for hydrogen supply.

A structure and method for fastening a ball seat for a ball valve, a trunnion-type ball valve (100), and a hydrogen station using this valve, in which a stepped part (30) is provided in mid-course of each of inner and outer peripheral surfaces of a resin-made annular seat body (21), with a seat part (31) provided on a tip side and a holding part (32) provided on a rear end side; an attachment groove (45) formed of inner and outer cylinders having a ring-shaped swaging edge part (34) is formed at a tip of a seat retainer (22); the holding part (32) is attached to this attachment groove (45); and the swaging edge part (34) of the inner and outer cylinders is closely contacted and fixed by being swaged to the stepped part (30) to cause the seat part (31) to protrude more than a swaging position.

Heterogeneous energy supply system

A heterogeneous energy supply system includes an electric power management unit controlled by a control unit to output electric power. An electricity supply unit is powered by the electric power management unit, and is controlled by the control unit to regulate the electric power so as to provide an electricity output. An air supply unit is powered by the electric power management unit, and is controlled by the control unit to generate an air output. A hydrogen supply unit is powered by the electric power management unit, and is controlled by the control unit to generate a hydrogen gas output.

Multi-component eluent generating system and method

A system and method to generate a concentration gradient eluent flow are described. The concentration gradient eluent flow can include at least two different generants. A liquid can be pumped to an eluent generating device. A first controlling signal can be applied to a first eluent generator to generate a first generant. A second controlling signal can be applied to a second eluent generator to generate a second generant. Either the first and/or the second controlling signal can be varied as a function of time to generate the concentration gradient eluent flow.

Techniques, systems and material are disclosed for thermochemical regeneration of biomass into renewable engineered fuel, storage of the renewable engineered fuel, respeciation of the renewable engineered fuel and transport. In one aspect, a method includes generating low density hydrogen fuel from biomass dissociation at a first location of a low elevation. The low density hydrogen fuel is self-transported in a pipeline to a second location at a higher elevation than the first location by traveling from the first location to the second location without adding energy of pressure. A high density hydrogen carrier is generated at the second location of higher elevation by reacting the low density hydrogen fuel with at least one of a carbon donor, a nitrogen donor and an oxygen donor harvested from industrial waste. The high density hydrogen carrier is delivered to a third location of a lower elevation than the second location while providing pressure or kinetic energy.

An application for registering resource stations for vehicle energizing that may be used to replenish power resources for vehicles includes a sequence of instructions stored on a non-transitory computer usable medium for implementing registration of resource stations for vehicle energizing, the sequence of instructions which, when executed by a processor causes said processor to provide a user interface for generating resource station data relating to a resource station for vehicle energizing, generate resource station data for the resource station for energizing a vehicle responsive to first inputs from the user interface, initiate a registration for the resource station for vehicle energizing with a resource station management system if the resource station for vehicle energizing has not previously been registered, transmit the resource station data for the resource station for vehicle energizing to the resource station management system. The sequence of instructions further cause the processor to generate a search request for a useable resource station for vehicle energizing responsive to second inputs from the user interface, the search request including location information defining an area of search for the useable resource station for vehicle energizing, transmit the search request to the resource station management system, receive a response to the search request indicating at least one useable resource station for vehicle energizing and display the response on the user interface.

Pumping of liquid cryogen from a storage tank

A liquid cryogen stored in a liquid cryogen space of a closed insulated cryogenic storage vessel is subcooled by allowing it to enter into a conduit disposed in the liquid cryogen space where it is expanded by a pressure reducer in the conduit, thereby producing a cooled biphasic mixture of the cryogen in liquid and vaporized forms. The cooled biphasic mixture has a temperature lower than that of the liquid cryogen in the liquid cryogen space. Heat is transferred across the conduit from the liquid cryogen in the liquid cryogen space to the cooled biphasic mixture.
