Method for direct reduction using vent gas
A method for the direct reduction of feedstock, containing metal-oxide, to form metallic material, by contact with hot reduction gas in a reduction assembly (1): the product of the direct reduction process is discharged from the reduction assembly by a product discharge apparatus, which is flushed with seal gas, drawn off from the vent gas and subsequently dedusted. At least one portion of the dedusted vent gas is used as a combustion energy source during the production of the reduction gas, and/or as a component of a furnace fuel gas during a combustion process for heating the reduction gas, and/or as a component of the reduction gas. Apparatus for carrying out the method is disclosed.
Processing Method
A method of processing a pyrite-containing slurry is disclosed. The method includes removing pyrite from the pyrite-containing slurry and forming (i) an inert stream and (ii) a pyrite-containing material, with the pyrite-containing slurry including tailings from a tailings dam or an ore processing plant. The method also includes leaching a metal sulfide-containing material and the pyrite-containing material with a leach liquor and microbes. A method of leaching a metal sulfide-containing material is also disclosed. A flotation circuit for an ore processing plant for a metal sulfide-containing material is also disclosed.
System and method for conditioning syngas and capturing carbon dioxide from conditioned syngas for production of power, chemicals, and other value added products
An automatic control system (ACS) for capturing and utilizing carbon dioxide (CO.sub.2) of one or more gases from one or more plants may receive, from one or more sensors, one or more parameters of at least one gas of one or more gases through a system gas flow inlet channel, a first volumetric flow rate of the one or more gases through a plug flow reactor (PFR), a second volumetric flow rate of the one or more gases through a bypass channel that bypasses the PFR, the CO.sub.2 flowing into the CO.sub.2 capture unit, or the syngas flowing into the CO.sub.2 capture unit. The ACS may also command one or more flow controllers to modulate at least one of the first volumetric flow rate of the one or more gases through PFR or the second volumetric flow rate of the one or more gases through the bypass channel based on the one or more parameters.
Device to inject a reducing gas into a shaft furnace
A device to inject a reducing gas into a shaft furnace including an external casing whose front face is provided with an outlet for gas injection into the shaft furnace, an internal casing located inside the external casing and made of a steel able to resist to a temperature up to 1200° C., this internal casing having an opening matching the gas injection outlet of the front face of the external casing and a refractory layer located between the external casing and the internal casing.
Blast furnace for ironmaking production
A blast furnace for ironmaking production wherein iron ore is at least partly reduced by a reducing gas which is injected in the stack of the blast furnace. The blast furnace includes an external and an internal wall, having a thickness T.sub.int, in contact with matters charged into the blast furnace. The thickness T.sub.int of the internal wall is substantially constant above and below the injection area of a reducing gas.
Production of Iron
A process for direct reduction of iron ore in a solid state includes exposing briquettes of iron ore fragments and biomass to electromagnetic energy under anoxic conditions and generating heat within iron ore in the briquettes. The iron ore is reduced in a solid state within the briquettes, and the biomass provides a source of reductant.
DIRECT REDUCED IRON SYSTEM AND METHOD
A method of direct reduction of iron (DRI) is disclosed, the method comprising generating metallic iron by removing oxygen from iron ore using a reducing gaseous mixture with excess carbon monoxide that produces an excess CO.sub.2 by-product is provided. CO.sub.2 by-product is optionally sequestered. A system for carrying out the method is also disclosed.
DUPLEX STAINLESS STEEL AND FORMED OBJECT THEREOF
The present disclosure relates to a corrosion resistant duplex stainless steel (ferritic austenitic alloy) which is suitable for use in a plant for the production of urea and uses thereof. The disclosure also relates to objects made of said duplex stainless steel. Furthermore, the present disclosure relates to a method for the production of urea and to a plant for the production of urea having one or more parts made from the duplex stainless steel, and to a method of modifying an existing plant for the production of urea.
DIRECT REDUCTION SYSTEM AND RELATED PROCESS
A direct reduction system for a direct reduction of iron ore, comprising a reactor having a reduction area and being adapted to be loaded from above with said iron ore; a treatment and feeding line, to process the process gases, thus obtaining a reducing gas mixture, and feed said reducing gas mixture into the reduction area; a line for recovering and treating an exhausted gas exiting the reactor, communicating upstream with the reactor and downstream with said treatment and feeding line; wherein at least one bypass duct is provided, adapted to divert at least one portion of reducing gas mixture from said treatment and feeding line to said recovery and treatment line.
