Direct reduction system and process utilizing a process gas direct recycle line
A direct reduction system and process for reducing a metal oxide to a metal, including and utilizing: a process gas line configured to deliver a portion of a process gas to a reformer operable for reforming the process gas to form a reformed gas; a bustle gas line configured to deliver the reformed gas to a shaft furnace as a bustle gas, wherein the shaft furnace is operable for reducing the metal oxide to the metal; and a direct recycle line including a direct recycle cooler configured to selectively deliver a portion of the process gas to the bustle gas line while circumventing the reformer, thereby selectively cooling and lowering the moisture content of the bustle gas delivered to the shaft furnace. Optionally, the direct reduction system further includes a reheat line configured to deliver a portion of the bustle gas to the shaft furnace as reheat gas.
Device for determining the topography of the burden surface in a shaft furnace
A device for determining the topography of the burden surface in a shaft furnace (10), the device comprising a radar device (20) that scans the burden surface (18) and has an antenna device (22) arranged in the area of a furnace cover (13), the antenna device being arranged on an axis of rotation (24) that is inclined in relation to a vertical axis (15) of the shaft furnace at an angle of inclination and being rotatable about the axis of rotation by means of a drive device in such a manner that a radar fan beam (28) formed by the emitted radar radiation of the antenna device is incident upon the burden surface along a profile line p and sweeps across the burden surface as the antenna device rotates.
DIRECT REDUCTION PROCESS UTILIZING HYDROGEN
A process for the production of direct reduced iron (DRI), with or without carbon, using hydrogen, where the hydrogen is produced utilizing water generated internally from the process. The process is characterized by containing either one or two gas loops, one for affecting the reduction of the oxide and another for affecting the carburization of the DRI. The primary loop responsible for reduction recirculates used gas from the shaft furnace in a loop including a dry dedusting step, an oxygen removal step to generate the hydrogen, and a connection to the shaft furnace for reduction. In the absence of a second loop, this loop, in conjunction with natural gas addition, can be used to deposit carbon. A secondary carburizing loop installed downstream of the shaft furnace can more finely control carbon addition. This loop includes a reactor vessel, a dedusting step, and a gas separation unit.
Process and system for extraction of iron oxide from ore
A method and system of extracting iron oxide from ore is provided, which may include adding a chelating agent to an iron ore to form an iron ore and chelating agent solution, heating the solution to reflux in water, and filtering the solution to yield an extraction residue and a chelated iron solution. The chelated iron solution may be treated with a potassium hydroxide and water solution to yield iron hydroxide.
Flash ironmaking system and method
A flash ironmaking system and a flash ironmaking method are provided. The flash ironmaking system includes a pulverized coal gasifier; a drying pre-reduction kiln; and a flash furnace having a horizontal bottom in which a molten iron layer region, a slag layer region and a carburizing bed layer region are sequentially formed, a reduction tower, a concentrate nozzle, and a flue.
IRONMAKING FEEDSTOCK
The present invention relates to an ironmaking feedstock comprising a solid CaFe.sub.3O.sub.5 phase. The ironmaking feedstock may be produced by a process comprising reacting a combination of a calcium source and magnetite at elevated temperature under reducing conditions sufficient to produce the solid CaFe.sub.3O.sub.5 phase. The product may be in the form of agglomerates such as pellets, with a compressive strength such that the product is suitable for transportation.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DIRECT REDUCTION WITH DRY VENT GAS DE-DUSTING
A method for direct reduction of metal oxide-containing starting materials to produce metallized material by contact with hot reduction gas in a reduction unit (1), wherein the product of the direct reduction is discharged from the reduction unit (1) by means of a product discharge device (3) which is flushed with seal gas and from which vent gas is drawn and subsequently de-dusted. The vent gas is de-dusted dry and the content of at least one gaseous constituent is reduced by catalytic conversion or combustion. Also, a device for carrying out the method is disclosed.
METHOD FOR DIRECT REDUCTION USING VENT GAS
A method for the direct reduction of feedstock, containing metal-oxide, to form metallic material, by contact with hot reduction gas in a reduction assembly (1): the product of the direct reduction process is discharged from the reduction assembly by a product discharge apparatus, which is flushed with seal gas, drawn off from the vent gas and subsequently dedusted. At least one portion of the dedusted vent gas is used as a combustion energy source during the production of the reduction gas, and/or as a component of a furnace fuel gas during a combustion process for heating the reduction gas, and/or as a component of the reduction gas. Apparatus for carrying out the method is disclosed.
Plant and method for the thermal treatment of solids
A method and its related plant for the thermal treatment of iron containing oxide, in which fine-grained solids are heated in a preheating calcining stage and exposed to a reduction gas in a subsequent reduction stage. Off-gas from the reduction stage is guided through a separation device wherein water originating from the reduction stage is separated. The water separated in the separation device is recycled into a water treatment section, from which the recycled water is supplied to a water electrolysis plant and/or a steam reforming plant producing hydrogen, and the produced hydrogen is supplied to the reduction stage as reductant and/or to the preheating calcining stage as fuel and/or to the gas heater as fuel and/or from which the recycled water is supplied to the separation device.
Method of utilizing furnace off-gas for reduction of iron oxide pellets
The invention relates to the use of off-gas from furnaces (2) for the process of reduction of iron oxide. The bypass duct leads off-gas with reduction atmosphere directly into the reactor, passing through and back to join the main duct of dedusting system using negative pressure of the primary dedusting system. The off-gas directly heats up the iron oxide pellet and maintain the reduction atmosphere in the reactor and allow the reaction to proceed and prevent re-oxidation.
