A system for carbon capture includes an oxy-fuel combustor for combusting a hydrocarbon with pure oxygen to produce heat energy and carbon dioxide, a COS converter for converting the carbon dioxide to COS, a transport means for transporting the COS, a sulphur recovery unit for recovering sulphur from the COS and an adjunct sulphur-burning power plant for combusting the sulphur to generate energy for powering one or more carbon capture and storage processes.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING A CARBONATE BONDED, PRESS-MOULDED ARTICLE

The carbonate bonded, press-moulded article is produced by press-moulding a particulate, carbonatable material that contains water and by carbonating the obtained compact with carbon dioxide gas. In order to be able to ensure an optimal compressive strength of the article two types of tests are provided. In the first type of test a sample of the particulate material is compressed with an increasing compaction pressure and when water starts to be expelled from the material as from a particular compaction pressure, the press-moulding step is performed with a compaction pressure which is at least 7 MPa smaller than this compaction pressure. In the second type of test different samples of the particulate material are press-moulded with different compaction pressures and, after having released the compaction pressure, the density of the compact is determined. In case this density decreases instead of increases as from a particular compaction pressure, the press-moulding step is performed with a compaction pressure which is smaller than this particular compaction pressure.

Methods and compositions for concrete production

The invention provides compositions and methods directed to carbonation of a cement mix during mixing. The carbonation may be in a stationary mixer or a transportable mixer, such as a drum of a ready-mix truck.

METHOD AND FACILITY FOR PRODUCING MATERIAL CONTAINING HYDRATED CEMENT

A method for processing material that contains cement rock may involve comminuting the material in a first comminuting device, feeding the material to a reactor in which the material is mixed with an aqueous liquid and CO.sub.2 and in which a mixing movement of the material is generated, and removing the material from the reactor and subdividing the material into at least two fractions by way of a classifying device. The temperature and the pressure in the reactor are maintained such that the pressure exceeds atmospheric pressure and such that the temperature is greater than 100° C. The method may further involve removing a withdrawal stream of the aqueous liquid from the reactor and separating and discharging suspended particles of the material from the withdrawal stream.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR FORMING VATERITE FROM CALCINED LIMESTONE USING ELECTRIC KILN

Provided herein are zero carbon dioxide (CO.sub.2) emission processes and systems to carry out the processes, comprising a) calcining limestone in a cement plant in an electric kiln to form a mixture comprising calcium oxide and a first gaseous stream comprising clean carbon dioxide, wherein the clean carbon dioxide comprises no gaseous or non-gaseous components from combustion of fuel; b) treating the mixture comprising calcium oxide with a N-containing salt solution under one or more dissolution conditions to produce a first aqueous solution comprising calcium salt; and c) contacting the first aqueous solution with the first gaseous stream comprising clean carbon dioxide under one or more precipitation conditions to produce a precipitation material comprising vaterite, aragonite, calcite, or combinations thereof.

ENHANCED CARBONATION AND CARBON SEQUESTRATION IN CEMENTITIOUS BINDERS

A manufacturing process of a cement product includes: (a) reacting at least one anhydrous or hydrated cement component with liquid or supercritical CO.sub.2 to form a cement composition; and (b) curing the cement composition to form a cement product.

OXY-CALCINATION PROCESS

Method and installation for calcining cement raw meal in a calciner whereby fuel and a calciner oxidant having an oxygen content of at least 30% vol are introduced into the calciner so as to generate either an oxidant-lean zone or a fuel-lean zone in the calciner located between the lowermost fuel inlet level and the lowermost oxidant inlet level of the calciner, between 50% and 100% by weight of the raw meal being supplied to the calciner upstream of and/or within the oxidant-lean, respectively the fuel-lean zone.

PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURE OF CALCINED COMPOUNDS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF CALCINED PRODUCTS
20170320774 · 2017-11-09 · ·

A process for producing a highly calcined and uniformly calcined product from a feedstock. The process comprising the steps of grinding the feedstock to powder, preheating the powder, and calcining the powder in a reactor plant that comprises a number of reactor segments in which a flash calciner is used in each progressive reactor segment to incrementally react the powder by raising the temperature in each segment. The last segment may be a high-temperature reactor that has a controlled residence time and temperature that may allow controlled finishing of the calcination process to achieve a desired degree of calcination and sintering of the product; and cooling of the product.
