Article of Manufacture for Securing a Catalyst Substrate
An aftertreatment component for use in an exhaust aftertreatment system. The aftertreatment component comprises an aftertreatment substrate and a compressible material. The compressible material may be formed from a plastic thermoset, a rubberized material, or a metal foil which permits for the selective expansion of the substrate within the compressible material, while also reducing cost and manufacturing complexity. In various embodiments, the aftertreatment substrate and the compressible materials may be formed separately and coupled to each other, or they may be formed concurrently via coextrusion.
HEAT RECOVERY DEVICE AND EXHAUST LINE FITTED WITH SUCH DEVICE
A heat recovery device comprises a valve body inwardly defining a direct flow path for exhaust gases from an inlet to an outlet, a heat exchanger comprising a flow passage for the exhaust gases emerging in an inlet zone of the valve body, and a gate positioned in the valve body. The heat recovery device comprises a guide wall positioned in the direct flow path at the inlet zone, arranged to guide the exhaust gases from the inlet toward the cutoff section away from the inlet zone when the gate frees the direct flow path, and delimiting at least one orifice to allow the exhaust gases to go to the inlet zone when the gate closes off the direct flow path.
Valve
A valve comprising a housing, a solenoid in the housing, a pin that can be moved by the solenoid, and a cup-shaped piston connected to the pin. The piston has an injection-molded membrane as a base, and the pin is connected to the membrane. The valve further includes a spring that rests against the membrane. The membrane is riveted to the pin.
SOLENOID VALVE FOR THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY
A solenoid valve for the automotive industry includes a housing comprising an inlet channel and an outlet channel. An electromagnetic circuit is arranged in the housing. The electromagnetic circuit includes a coil wound onto a coil carrier, an armature, a core, and a return device. The armature and the core are arranged in a valve interior. A valve rod is arranged to adjoin the armature. The valve rod is movably mounted in the core via a bearing. A sleeve body seals the valve interior. The sleeve body is provided as a bearing element for the armature. A valve closure body is operatively connected to the armature. The valve closure body includes pressure equalization openings and is movably mounted in the sleeve body via a first sealing element. A spring pre-tensions the armature.
Exhaust Gas Cleaning Component For Cleaning The Exhaust Gases Of An Internal Combustion Engine
An exhaust gas cleaning component, having a housing with an inflow port and an outflow port, a first honeycomb structure in the housing with a casing, the casing having an outer surface over which exhaust gas can flow, and also having an applicator device by which an exhaust gas cleaning additive can be applied to the outer surface of the casing.
SEAL FOR SEALING OFF THE GAP BETWEEN A HEAT EXCHANGER AND THE INSIDE WALL OF A GROOVE IN A FLUID CHANNEL
The invention concerns a seal (5) for sealing off the gap between a heat exchanger (1) and the inside wall of a groove (7) in a fluid channel for accommodating said heat exchanger [1], the seal (5) comprising at least one fixing member (51, 52) for fixing the seal (5) on at least part of the circumference of the heat exchanger (1) and at least a first (53) and second lip (54) adapted to contact opposite sides (71, 72) of the groove (7) to thereby seal off the gap between the heat exchanger (1) and the fluid channel and to fix said at least part of the circumference of the heat exchanger (1) inside the groove (7).
Pivoting Piston Machine
A pivoting piston machine includes a housing, a first piston and a second piston arranged in the housing, the first and second pistons being pivotable away from one another and toward one another about a pivot axis. The machine has a working chamber arranged between first and second piston. The working chamber increases and decreases in size in alternating fashion during pivoting of the first piston and of the second piston. The machine also has a inlet mouth for admission and discharge of the working medium. A closing element for closing and opening the inlet or the outlet has a valve disk interacting with a valve seat. Either the inlet mouth or the outlet mouth is arranged within the working chamber between the first end surface and the second end surface, and the valve seat and the valve disk are arranged at either the inlet mouth or the outlet mouth.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR IMPROVING TURBOCHARGER EFFICIENCY
Methods and systems are provided for enhancing turbocharger performance for a boosted engine system configured to operate with a pattern of deactivated cylinders. In one example, a method may include, in response to a demand for boost, operating with a cylinder pattern based on boost demand and turbocharger configuration. The specific pattern may depend on the pattern constraints imposed by engine load and NVH metrics.
EXHAUST GAS PURIFYING DEVICE OF INTERNAL-COMBUSTION ENGINE, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING SAME
Provided is an exhaust gas purifying device of an internal-combustion engine, and a method of manufacturing the same, with which it is possible for a honeycomb carrier to be held securely within a case member using a low-cost, simple structure. The exhaust gas purifying device is provided with: a columnar honeycomb carrier 11 in which a plurality of cells which extend from an exhaust gas inflow side to an outflow side, and which serve as exhaust gas flow paths, are demarcated and famed by means of porous separating walls; a three-way catalyst supported in the honeycomb carrier 11; and a cylindrical case member 12 in which the honeycomb carrier 11 is housed, with the interposition of a retaining member 13. The honeycomb carrier 11 is provided with outer circumferential plugging portions 111a and 111b formed in such a way as to plug, to a prescribed depth, openings Ca and Cb of cells in an outer circumferential portion P of at least one end surface of the two end surfaces, in the central axis X-direction, of the honeycomb carrier 11; and inclined portions 112a and 112b formed in a direction whereby the length, in the central axis X-direction, of the outer circumferential plugging portions 111a and 111b decreases toward the outer circumferential edge. Further, the inclined portions 112a and 112b catch on the inner walls of the case member 12, with the interposition of the retaining member 13, thereby retaining the honeycomb carrier 11 in the case member 12.
