PREMISES POWER USAGE MONITORING SYSTEM
A control system (300) allows recognized standard premise electrical outlets, for example NEMA, CEE and BS, among others to be remotely monitored and/or controlled, for example, to intelligently execute blackouts or brownouts or to otherwise remotely control electrical devices. The system (300) includes a number of smart receptacles (302) that communicate with a local controller (304), e.g., via power lines using the TCP/IP protocol. The local controller (304), in turn, communicates with a remote controller (308) via the internet.
Vehicle management apparatus, vehicle, and vehicle management method
A server performs a process including: when the server receives a second DR execution instruction, the step of obtaining a vehicle list; the step of turning off a determination flag of each candidate vehicle; the step of obtaining a number of times of turning on and off a relay at a time of DR for one of candidate vehicles each showing a determination flag in an OFF state; when the number of times of turning on and off the relay is greater than a threshold value, the step of turning on an exclusion flag; the step of performing a notification process; when a determining process ends, the step of performing a process of allocating a DR amount; and the step of transmitting a DR signal.
Fail-safe retrofitting kit for a partial discharge monitoring system and a preinstalled voltage indication system (VIS)
A fail-safe device is disclosed for ensuring compatibility and reliable operation of a Voltage Indicator System (VIS) for a medium- or high-voltage apparatus in presence of a monitoring system with: a first and second fail-safe device terminal; the first terminal being connectable to an output terminal of a coupler, the coupler being provided in a medium- or high voltage portion of the apparatus, and the second terminal being connectable to an input terminal of the VIS, which is provided in the low-voltage portion; a third and fourth fail-safe device terminal, wherein the third and fourth terminals being electrically connectable to first and second input/output terminals of the monitoring system; and an electrical circuit connecting the first and second fail-safe device terminal and being adapted to compensate for electrical failure modes of the monitoring system such, that the VIS is operable in case the electrical failure modes occur.
Electrical meter for determining a power main of a smart plug
An electrical panel or an electrical meter may provide improved functionality by interacting with a smart plug. A smart plug may provide a smart-plug power monitoring signal that includes information about power consumption of devices connected to the smart plug. The smart-plug power monitoring signal may be used in conjunction with power monitoring signals from the electrical mains of the building for providing information about the operation of devices in the building. For example, the power monitoring signals may be used to (i) determine the main of the house that provides power to the smart plug, (ii) identify devices receiving power from the smart plug, (iii) improve the accuracy of identifying device state changes, and (iv) train mathematical models for identifying devices and device state changes.
Method and arrangement for detecting a topology in a low-voltage network
A method recognizes topology in low-voltage networks including local substations each having a plurality of output lines connected to a controllable electrical resource, and a control apparatus of each local substation. The method uses a computer arrangement assigning resources to the control apparatuses based on geographical proximity, selecting an assigned resource, transmitting a test control command specific to the selected resource from the control apparatus to the assigned resources, the test control command configured to trigger a change in power consumption or power output of the selected resource, measuring a change in an electrical variable on the output lines of the local substation by using a measuring apparatus, and assigning the selected electrical resource to that output line of that local substation on which a correlation between test control command and change is recognized. An arrangement for recognizing a topology in a low-voltage network is also provided.
Systems and methods to allow for a smart device
Smart switch devices, systems, and methods for modifying an existing electrical system to utilize the power state output of a physical switch as an indicator or signal for the operation of a smart home device or system or network of such devices to facilitate interoperability of physical switches with smart devices. The smart switch detects or determines the power state of a circuit and infers the corresponding state of a mechanical switch that operates the circuit. This information is then transmitted to associated smart devices, which may not be physically connected to the circuit controlled by the switch. When the mechanical switch is operated, it can control both electrically attached loads, such as a conventional light or appliance, and wirelessly control unconnected smart devices.
Power adapter configured to apply power to a device
A power adapter configured to apply power to a device is disclosed. The power adapter comprises a switching module having a recess comprising a first set of contacts for receiving control signals, wherein the switching module comprises a switch for selectively applying power to a device based upon the control signals; and a control module removably coupled to the switching module and having a second set of contacts coupled to the first set of contacts of the switching module when the control module is attached to the switching module; wherein the switching module comprises a user interface element.
Methods and apparatus for maintaining a power conversion system
Methods and apparatus are provided herein. For example, a method for maintaining a power conversion system can include transmitting, to a computing apparatus in operable communication with the power conversion system, an alert message indicating non-working microinverters and which of the non-working microinverters are under warranty and eligible for replacement; receiving, from the computing apparatus, a request for replacement for the non-working microinverters; and transmitting, to the computing apparatus, an acknowledgment message indicating that the request has been successfully received and replacements for the non-working microinverters are being shipped.
ENHANCED SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR STRING BALANCING
A photovoltaic system, including: a plurality of photovoltaic panels having outputs connected in series as a string to provide a string output; a converter coupled to the string to receive the string output as an input and generate a direct current output from the input; a series connection of the string output and the direct current output; and a bus powered at least in part by the series connection of the string output and the direct current output.
SOLAR PANEL DISCONNECT AND REACTIVATION SYSTEM
A photovoltaic system with an inverter, at least one solar panel for providing electrical power, and electrical wiring for coupling electrical power from the at least one solar panel to the inverter. Also included is a transmitter for transmitting a messaging protocol along the electrical wiring, where the protocol includes a multibit wireline signal. Also included is circuitry for selectively connecting the electrical power from the at least one solar panel along the electrical wiring to the inverter in response to the messaging protocol.
