Systems and methods for improving the ranking of news articles
A system ranks results. The system may receive a list of links. The system may identify a source with which each of the links is associated and rank the list of links based at least in part on a quality of the identified sources.
Methods and Apparatus for Querying a Relational Data Store Using Schema-less Queries
The invention provides, in one aspect, a method of searching an RDF triples data store of the type in which the triples are maintained in accord with a first storage schema. The method includes inputting a first query specifying RDF triples that are to be identified in the data store. That first query assumes either (i) that the triples are stored in a schema-less manner (i.e., with no storage schema) or (ii) that the triples are maintained in accord with a second storage schema that differs from the first. The method further includes generating, from the first query, a second query that specifies those same RDF triples, yet, that reflects the first storage schema. That second query can be applied to the RDF triples data store in order to identify and/or retrieve the desired data.
Systems and methods for performance monitoring
Data storage systems monitor the performance of data storage operations on a granular level and compile the information for presenting to a user. The system measures the time of execution for individual granular stages of the storage operation and in response to the monitoring results, automatically adjust parameters to optimize performance. Further, the system performs a performance test by simulating the data storage operation, but may not actually write the data to the secondary storage medium.
Method and apparatus for efficient delta pricing
A method includes generating a delta price and generating a final price using the delta price. A process and system provide an ability to determine a product's final price with a selected set of features in which multiple configurations are to be generated. The ability to determine such final prices can be based on the ability to determine the change in price between one configuration of a product and that of another product configuration (e.g. the product configured with the desired feature(s)). A customer is able to select one or more features, and so view the effect on the product's final price, as well as compare the prices (and incremental price differences) between various configurations of a given product. This increases the likelihood of the purchase being made, because it provides the potential purchaser with the final price earlier in the sales cycle.
System and method for providing integrated management of electronic information
A system and method for managing electronic information using a computer system for one or more users, comprising creating an electronic folder and storing the folder in an electronic folder management system, creating files for the electronic folder, maintaining a collection of electronic folders and the files stored therein, and associating the electronic folders with one or more files such that each of the files may be accessed by identifying the related electronic folder.
Computer readable electronic records automated classification system
Classifying an electronic document in a computer-based system is disclosed. For each classification instance in a plurality of classification instances, a confidence data indicating a degree of confidence that the electronic document is associated with that classification instance is determined. A classification, based on a first classification instance in the plurality of classification instances, is assigned without human intervention to the electronic document if the confidence data associated with the first classification instance exceeds a first threshold.
Systems and methods for efficient data searching, storage and reduction
A computer program product for searching a repository of binary uninterpretted data, according to one embodiment, includes a computer readable storage medium having program instructions executable by a computer to cause the computer to perform a method comprising: analyzing, by the computer, segments of each of the repository and input data to determine a repository segment that is similar to an input segment, the analyzing including searching an index of representation values of the repository data for matching representation values of the input in a time independent of a size of the repository and linear in a size of the input data; and analyzing, by the computer, the similar repository segment with respect to the input segment to determine their common data sections while utilizing at least some of the matching representation values for data alignment, in a time linear in a size of the input segment.
Method and system for providing personalized online services and advertisement in public spaces
A method and system for providing personalized and integrated online services for communications and commercial transactions both in private and public venues. The invention provides personalized information that is conveniently accessible through a network of public access stations (or terminals) which are enabled by a personal system access card (e.g., smart card). The invention also provides advertisers the opportunity to directly engage actual and potential user-consumers with selected advertising or marketing content based on each user's profile and usage history.
System for maintaining patient medical records for participating patients
A portable heath care records system employs a server on which the health care records of participating patients are stored. The patients may access the system using cards or CD-ROMS that are inserted into the patient's computer. The patients can review their own records via Internet and can edit them. The patient may also access via cell phone or handheld device. The patient record is protected by patient ID and password. Treating physicians have access to each patient's records for review and update. A two-way firewall permits patients to review their own health records only, but permits the physician to review both the physician files and the patient files. The physician can override the firewall to send patient information from his or her record. A read-only emergency screen with medical data about the patient may be accessed for emergency use. Records of many patients and of many clinics are maintained on a common server, so that the patient record can be accessed globally.
Subscription Media On Demand IX
An electronic media distribution/play system includes a service facility that has a communications network interface and maintains a data file catalog. The catalog is sent over the network to requesting users, and the system processes payments from customers in establishing file access authorizations. Encrypted user-selected files and a player program are transmitted to each customer for metered access to received data files as limited by the authorization, and customers can make additional selections and play the encrypted files freely while the authorization remains established. The system can transmit the data files from local storage, and also provide links to encrypted files that are stored at remote vendor facilities. Authorizations can be for selected portions or class levels of the catalog, and for terms measured as calendar time, play time, and collective number of plays. Also disclosed is a method for facilitating the distribution and accessing of electronic files.
