Systems and methods of generating color saturated data marks in data visualizations

An exemplary method of displaying a data visualization includes displaying a graphical user interface that includes three distinct regions, and receiving user actions to associate three different fields with three different shelves, including a shelf that defines colors of data marks. The method also includes generating, in accordance with the received user actions, data marks to be displayed in a data visualization, each data mark corresponding to a respective retrieved tuple of data from a multidimensional database, where (i) each data mark has an x-position defined according to data for a first field in the respective tuple, (ii) each data mark has a y-position defined according to data for a second field in the respective tuple, and (iii) each data mark has a color assigned according to data for a third field in the respective tuple. The method also includes displaying a data visualization that includes the generated data marks.

Data visualization user interface for multidimensional databases

A method is performed at a computer. The computer retrieves a dataset having a plurality of fields, including a first field and a second field. The computer displays a graphical user interface, including a first region displaying the plurality of fields from the dataset, a second region having a plurality of shelves determined according to a user-selected data visualization type, and a third region for displaying one or more data visualizations. The computer receives user actions to drop the first field on a first shelf and to drop the second field on a second shelf. The first and second shelves define positional attributes of data marks. The computer displays a data visualization in the third region. Each data mark has a position in the data visualization determined according to the first shelf, a data value for the first field, the second shelf, and a data value for the second field.

Data management system and method to host applications and manage storage, finding and retrieval of typed items with support for tagging, connections, and situated queries

A data management system and unit host applications and manage storage, finding and retrieval of typed items with support for tagging, connections, and situated queries. The data management system and unit have a content processor that receives content and processes the content to add one or more items into a particular cell, an item processor that receives one of an item to add to the cells in the storage unit and an item to update in the cells of the storage unit and a query processor that executes a query against the one or more cells in the storage unit.

Systems and methods of generating data marks in data visualizations

An example method of displaying a data visualization includes displaying a graphical user interface that includes three distinct regions, and receiving user actions to associate two different fields with two different shelves. The method also includes generating, in accordance with the received user actions, data marks to be displayed in a data visualization, each data mark corresponding to a respective retrieved tuple of data from a multidimensional database, where (i) each data mark has an x-position defined according to data for a first field in the respective tuple and (ii) each data mark has a y-position defined according to data for a second field in the respective tuple. The method also includes displaying a data visualization that includes the generated data marks.

Discovering environment objects for information management in a networked environment. Information management provides services such as data protection, backup, retention, compliance, etc., by classifying the objects and/or infrastructure of an entity according to its value to the entity. Information management begins by discovering the data in a network and by discovering the servers and services operating in a network. The servers and services are discovered using adapters that can collect information regarding the environment objects. Objects can be discovered using cascaded discovery, where the information collected by one adapter is used to drive the collection of additional information by other adapters. This information can then by used by information management systems to assign or orchestrate various services.

AUTOMATION TOOL FOR WEB SITE CONTENT LANGUAGE TRANSLATION

A system, method and computer readable medium for providing translated web content is disclosed. The method on an information processing system includes retrieving a first content in a first language and parsing the first content into a plurality of translatable components. The method further includes generating a unique identifier for each of the plurality of translatable components of the first content and queuing the plurality of translatable components and corresponding unique identifiers for translation into a second language. The method further includes, for each of the plurality of translatable components, storing a translated component and an associated unique identifier corresponding to the translatable component, thereby storing a plurality of translated components and corresponding unique identifiers.

Compatibility Scoring of Users

In one embodiment, one or more computing devices receives, from a first user, a request to search for compatible users, wherein the first user is associated with a set of first expressed interests, accesses one or more sets of second expressed interests of one or more second users, respectively, normalizes the set of first expressed interests and the sets of second expressed interests to obtain a set of first normalized interests and one or more sets of second normalized interests, respectively, calculates, for each set of second expressed interests, an interest compatibility score based at least in part on a probability that a user will express one or more pairs of a first normalized interest and a second normalized interest, and sends, to the first user, information associated with one or more of the second users based on the calculated interest compatibility scores.

Systems and methods for improving the ranking of news articles

A system ranks results. The system may receive a list of links. The system may identify a source with which each of the links is associated and rank the list of links based at least in part on a quality of the identified sources.
