A system and method for at least partially completing a user profile. The method includes analyzing the user profile to identify at least one missing informational element in the user profile, wherein identifying the at least one missing element further comprises determining at least one concept based on the user profile and matching the determined at least one concept to a plurality of category concepts, each concept including a collection of signatures and metadata describing the concept, wherein each category concept is associated with at least one required informational element, wherein each missing informational element is one of the at least one required informational element that is not included in the user profile; sending a query for the missing informational element; and updating at least a portion of the user profile based on a response to the query.

The program memory comprises system-user entered data definitions and business rules. The system imports XML document data into the system data definitions, processes the data using the business rules definitions and exports XML documents. The system can automatically create XML document formats from its data definitions and can automatically create its data definitions from XML document formats. The system-user can also define the mapping between XML document formats and the system data definitions. The system data definition is the combination of a Relational data model, an Object data model, and an XML data model.

An exemplary method of generating a plurality of data visualizations comprises displaying a graphical user interface that includes a schema information region and a data visualization region. The method further includes receiving user actions to associate first, second, and third fields included in the schema information region with a plurality of shelves of the data visualization region. The method further includes generating a plurality of data visualizations in the data visualization region in accordance with the received user actions, each data visualization includes a plurality of data marks corresponding to a respective retrieved tuple of data having the first, second, and third fields. A method of selecting and presenting content based on learned user preferences is provided. The method includes providing a content system including a set of content items organized by genre characterizing the content items, and wherein the set of content items contains microgenre metadata further characterizing the content items. The method also includes receiving search input from the user for identifying desired content items and, in response, presenting a subset of content items to the user. The method further includes receiving content item selection actions from the user and analyzing the microgenre metadata within the selected content items to learn the preferred microgenres of the user. The method includes, in response to receiving subsequent user search input, selecting and presenting content items in an order that portrays as relatively more relevant those content items containing microgenre metadata that more closely match the learned microgenre preferences of the user.

A method, system and computer program product for providing translated web content is disclosed. The method includes receiving a request from a user on a web site, the web site having a first web content in a first language, wherein the request calls for a second web content in a second language. The method further includes dividing the first web content into a plurality of translatable components and generating a unique identifier for each translatable component. The method further includes identifying a plurality of translated components of the second web content using the unique identifier of each of the plurality of translatable components of the first web content and putting the plurality of translated components of the second web content to preserve a format that corresponds to the first web content. The method further includes providing the second web content in response to the request that was received.
