A computer-implemented analytical and reporting system includes an input device, a database and a processor. The input device is operative for inputting analytical data results of a test sample. The database includes an analysis methodology data section, an instrument data section and a forms data section. The processor is operative for receiving from the input device the analytical data results of the test sample. The processor is also operative for receiving from the database analysis methodology data of at least one analysis method, instrument data of at least one analytical instrument and forms data of a desired analytical report form. The processor is also operative for processing the analytical data results and the instrument data using the analysis methodology data and is operative for generating an analytical report produced on the desired analytical report form depicting final analytical results based on the analysis method and the analytical instrument.

A computer program for managing and manipulating archive zip files of a computer. The program includes a system and method for opening, creating, and modifying, and extracting zip archive files. The program is fully integrated into Microsoft Windows Explorer and is accessed via Explorer menus, toolbars, and/or drag and drop operations. An important feature of the program is the archive manager which may be used to open a zip file, create a new zip file, extract zip files, modify zip files, etc. The program is integrated into Microsoft Windows Explorer using the shell name space extension application program interface developed by Microsoft.

Personalized network searching, in which a search query is received from a user, and a request is received to personalize a search result. Responsive to the search query and the request to personalize the search result, a personalized search result is generated by searching a personalized search object. Responsive to the search query, a general search result is generated by searching the general search object. The personalized search result and the general search result are provided to a client device, an advertisement is selected based at least in part upon the personalized search object, and the advertisement, the personalized search result, and the general search result are displayed.

A system and method for enriching a concept database. The method includes determining, based on signatures of a first multimedia content element (MMCE) and signatures of a plurality of existing concepts in the concept database, at least one first concept; generating a reduced representation of the first MMCE by removing the at least one portion of the first MMCE matching the determined at least one first concept; comparing the reduced representation to signatures representing a plurality of second MMCEs to determine a plurality of matching second MMCEs for each portion of the reduced representation; determining metadata for each portion of the reduced representation; generating a second concept for each portion of the reduced representation, wherein each second concept includes a collection of signatures and the determined metadata for the respective portion; and adding the generated at least one second concept to the concept database.

A system and method for enriching a concept database. The method includes determining, based on signatures of a first multimedia content element (MMCE) and signatures of a plurality of existing concepts in the concept database, at least one first concept, wherein each first concept is one of the plurality of existing concepts matching a portion of the first MMCE; generating a reduced representation of the first MMCE, wherein the generation of the reduced representation includes removing the at least one portion of the first MMCE matching the determined at least one first concept; comparing the reduced representation to signatures representing a plurality of second MMCEs to determine a plurality of matching second MMCEs; generating, based on the reduced representation and the plurality of matching second MMCEs, at least one second concept; and adding the generated at least one second concept to the concept database.

An intelligent product catalog system provides for electronic creation, management and viewing of product information using a multimedia display system. A central database repository stores the product information and provides for an unlimited number of product attributes and dynamic reconfiguration of the product information. The central database repository comprises a meta data system, a scheme system and an object model system. A plurality of applications access the central database repository, the applications being automatically adaptive to the dynamic reconfiguration of the product information. A user interface provides display, sorting and filtering of the product information including the unlimited number of product attributes.

A method of organizing, managing, and providing interactive access to data in a database is disclosed, along with a program and a system for implementing the method. Associations between each data Item and at least one ItemSelector are established and stored. A predefined (but modifiable) Vocabulary of ItemSelectors sufficient to describe each Item of the database is created. Presently selected Items are described by a combination of associations defined by an appropriate Boolean combination of each ItemSelector in a presently selected set of ItemSelectors. A user controls the presently selected set by adding an ItemSelector from a presented group, or by removing a previously selected ItemSelector. The system ideally makes available to the user all relevant ItemSelectorsthose which, if added to the presently selected set, would result in a set that describes at least one extant data Item. The system ideally makes all presently selected Items available to the user.

A system and method for integrating customized content with the main content of a Web page where the customized content is generated after the main content has been loaded within a browser application of a client computer is disclosed. The system and method of the present invention maintains information relating to the main content of a Web page in a memory cache which is then used to locate offer content that is relevant to the main Web page content. The offer content may then be transmitted to the client computer where it is integrated with pre-loaded main content within a Web page.

A universal data management interface (UDMI) system includes a processing system generates a visual interface through which a user can access, manage, and manipulate data on plural different types of remote databases. The UDMI connects to multiple standard database management systems and to allow multiple users to access, manage, and manipulate data within each of the multiple standard database management systems. The UDMI also allows multiple virtual databases that reside in a single database to be available as a network service.

In some embodiments, techniques for data backup and restoration comprise creating a redundancy data element by computing an erasure correcting code on elements of data from a first set of computers that includes a first computer and a second computer, wherein the elements of data includes a first data element from the first computer and a second data element from the second computer; transmitting the redundancy data element to a third computer for storage thereon; receiving a request for data restoration relating to the first data element; creating a restoration data, wherein the restoration data is a reconstruction of the first data element, wherein creating the restoration data includes computing an erasure correcting code on elements of data that include the second data element and the redundancy data element; and providing the restoration data responsive to the request for data restoration.
