Latch interface for a valve actuating device
09885258 · 2018-02-06 · ·

A novel latch seat for a switching rocker arm assembly used in variable valve actuation (VVA) systems for internal combustion engines. The seat is formed interactively in the assembled switching rocker arm using a novel fixture and press. The press interactively creates a curved dimple of the correct curvature, position and depth while measuring several lash dimensions. Since the latch seat is formed on the assembled rocker arm assembly, the latch seat depth is designed to account for the inaccuracies in the rocker arm assembly parts which create lash. Therefore all of the parts may be made with less precision since the latch seat is sized to compensate for the inaccuracies of all of the parts. The rocker arm assembly parts now may be manufactured to less stringent standards, but result in a rocker arm assembly with same accuracy of rocker arm assemblies manufactured to previous standards.

An apparatus includes a ball plunger post and a valve stem post extending upward from a base, the ball plunger post having a size and a shape of a hydraulic lift adjuster (HLA) of a predefined engine, and the valve stem post having a size and a shape of a valve stem of the predefined engine. The apparatus includes a fixture sized and shaped to receive a switching rocker arm assembly, the switching rocker arm assembly having a first end for pivoting and a second end for latching, and a latch with a latch pin fitting into a latch bore and a latch seat. The apparatus includes a latch rod for positioning within the latch bore to rest upon the latch seat, the latch rod having a hardness higher than that of the latch seat and a same diameter as the latch pin, and adapted for coining the latch seat.

REPLACEMENT TOOL FOR DRIVESHAFT YOKE BUSHINGS

A replacement tool removes an old bushing or installs a new bushing in a driveshaft yoke. A fixture has a guide chamber facing a bushing bore and a first threaded passage. A traveler mounted in the fixture has a plunger received in the guide chamber and a socket that holds the bushing. The plunger has a second threaded passage aligned with the first passage and having a smaller diameter. A set screw can lock the bushing into the socket. A removal bolt with a shaft matching the second passage is inserted through both passages. Turning of the removal bolt retracts the traveler and extracts the bushing. The tool is reconfigured with an installation bolt in the first passage only. A push plug is placed in the guide chamber to transfer force from the installation bolt to the plunger during turning of the installation bolt to press fit a new bushing.

Removal device

A tool for removing a component from a turbomachine is provided. The tool includes a body having an alignment portion and a connection portion. The alignment portion defines a longitudinal axis and a cross sectional shape complementary to a slot defined in a rotor wheel of the turbomachine. When the tool is positioned in the slot, the connection portion is configured to contact the component. The tool additionally includes a force section connected to the body and configured to transfer a force to the connection portion in a direction substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the alignment portion.

Tools for installing reactor components

Reactor installation tools and methods for installing reactor components in a reactor tube are described herein. A reactor installation tool can include a releasable attachment assembly for securing the tool to a reactor or support for holding reactor components. The tool can include a movable cylinder that can be actuated to engage and push on a reactor component in an interior region of the reactor for positioning the contents of the reactor in a desired location. The tool can further include means for supply blasts of compressed gas to an interior region of the reactor to aid in the expansion and positioning of the reactor contents. A skirt seal can be used to ensure that the blasts of compressed gas are contained in the interior region of the reactor.

Method and tool for assembling a bone anchoring device

A method for assembling a bone anchoring device includes inserting a bone anchoring element in a first holder of a tool and inserting a receiving part in a second holder of the tool, actuating the tool from a first configuration towards a second configuration to insert a head of the bone anchoring element into the receiving part; continuing actuation of the tool towards the second configuration to move a locking ring and a receiving part body of the receiving part relative to each other until the locking ring assumes a second position with respect to the receiving part body in which the locking ring is latched to the receiving part body in a position where the locking ring compresses a portion of the receiving part body to compress the head, such that the head is held in and cannot be removed from the receiving part body and the bone anchoring element is held adjustably at a first angular position relative to the receiving part, and removing the attached bone anchoring element and receiving part from the tool. The tool is configured for the execution of the steps according to the method.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ALIGNING AND LEVELING TILE

A tile aligning and leveling system that uses an under tile base re-usable upright connecting tab, which is detachably connected to said under tile base, a re-usable flexible edge slotted cap configured to slip over the connecting tab and latch thereto as the cap is slid further down the connecting tab. The cap has an edge slot so that the connecting tab can be separated from the cap, by merely sliding the cap, so that the connecting tab passes through the slot. A flexible spring-like portion of the cap provides increased force on the tile even if undesired elongation of the connecting tab occurs.

An impeller removal tool assembly is provided. The assembly can include a central body, a first puller arm, and a second puller arm, each arm pivotably pinned to the central body and mirrored across a central axis from each other. The puller arms can have angled ramp surfaces and a plurality of teeth projecting toward the central axis. The assembly further includes an arm rotator bolt threadably engaged with the central body and having a bearing configured to contact the angled ramp surfaces, where rotation of the arm rotator bolt causes the puller arms to rotate between a first position disengaged from a hub of an impeller, and a second position engaged with the hub of the impeller. A central rod can extend through the arm rotator bolt and translate along the axis with respect to the central body and the arm rotator bolt to interface with a pump shaft.
