The umbrella includes a support post, a top housing supported by the post, and a bottom housing supported by the post. Spokes are pivotally disposed about the top housing. Struts are pivotally disposed about the bottom housing, wherein each strut is pivotally connected to a respective spoke. A canopy is disposed about the plurality of spokes. A first and second set of rollers may be retained with the top housing. A third set of rollers may be retained within the bottom housing. A rope raises and lowers the canopy. A lever lock is disposed about the bottom housing to retain the rope when the umbrella is in an open position. The umbrella also has a rope storage slot within the support post for retaining any excess rope.

The assembly can further include an umbrella rib comprising a first end, a second end, and an elongate body extending along a longitudinal axis. The first end can be configured to be received in the concave space through the free end such that the socket engages the umbrella rib and such that the first end is accessible through the access aperture.

The socket can have a fixed end, a free end, and a cylindrical wall defining a concave space extending from the free end toward the fixed end. The assembly can further include an umbrella rib comprising a first end, a second end, and an elongate body extending along a longitudinal axis. The first end can be configured to be received in the concave space through the free end such that the socket engages the umbrella rib and such that the first end is accessible through the access aperture.

A chute is disposed on the stand column, and the sliding block is for sliding up and down along the chute. The chute is provided with a shading device. A collecting mechanism is coordinately arranged in the stand column, and includes a drive assembly, a clutch fork assembly and a transmission assembly. The transmission assembly includes a collecting and supporting transmission assembly and an inclination transmission assembly. The drive assembly is able to be in clutch cooperation with the collecting and supporting transmission assembly or the inclination transmission assembly under action of the clutch fork assembly.

An array of wirelessly controllable umbrellas includes at least two umbrellas with receivers and with motors operable to open and close the umbrellas. The receivers are operable to wirelessly receive a code and communicate with the motors to open or close the umbrellas based on an authentication of the code being an authorized code and to deny operation of the umbrella based on receipt of an unauthorized code.

An array of wirelessly controllable umbrellas includes at least two umbrellas with receivers and with motors operable to open and close the umbrellas. The present invention relates to an easily assembled and disassembled shade-providing structure, such as may be mounted to a playground assembly. The shade-providing structure comprises an outer frame defining an interior space and a canopy that may be positioned in that interior space. The canopy has one or more rods around its periphery, such as may be inserted through one or more pockets in the canopy fabric. Each of the outer frame and the rod(s) has a set of apertures configured to receive a locking fastener and a set of apertures configured to receive a jack screw or similar tensioning device. Accordingly, to assembly the structure, one or more jack screws can be used to provide the canopy with a desired tension and then locking fasteners can be used to secure the canopy to the outer frame.
