A security apparatus for securing a portable electronic device to an immovable object includes a locking head having a base, a stabilizing element extending axially from the base, and a movable engagement element partially contained within the stabilizing element. The stabilizing element includes a first end adjacent the base and a second end opposite the first end. The movable engagement element extends from the first end of the stabilizing element to the second end of the stabilizing element. The movable engagement element is movable between an unlocked configuration, in which the movable engagement element is closer to the stabilizing element and the locking head is insertable into the portable electronic device, and a locked configuration, in which the movable engagement element is further from the stabilizing element and the locking head is secured to the portable electronic device.

A security apparatus for securing a portable electronic device to an immovable object includes a locking head having a base and a plurality of engagement portions extending from the base. The plurality of engagement portions is configured to be inserted into an aperture of the portable electronic device. The locking head also includes a linear portion positioned between the plurality of engagement portions and extending from the base. The security apparatus further includes a security device attached to the locking head and configured to engage the immovable object.

The merchandise security device may include a lock mechanism operably engaged with a shape memory material configured to receive electrical power for locking and unlocking the lock mechanism. The shape memory material may be configured to change in shape in response to receiving electrical power to thereby lock or unlock the lock mechanism.

The special lock is designed to be applied to an individual piece of airline luggage and has indicia conveying to luggage purchasers that the special lock is approved by a luggage screening authority and conveying to the luggage screening authority that the special lock can be opened using the master key. The method includes providing the luggage screening authority directly or indirectly with exclusive access to the master key. The manufacturers and/or providers of the master key and special lock retain copies of the master key.

The short leg is rotatable about the long leg. The button is movable to a blocking position to block the short leg from rotation about the long leg, and to an unblocking position to permit the rotation of the short leg about the long leg. The key-operated lock core is configured to drive the button in one direction to the blocking position and in a reverse direction to the unblocking position. The indicator is movable with respect to the key-operated lock core and the button. The indicator is movable from an original position, toward a first horizontal level that is tangent to the vertex of the arch section of the shackle, to an indicative position outside the shell.

The merchandise security device may include a lock mechanism operably engaged with a shape memory material configured to receive electrical power for locking and unlocking the lock mechanism. The shape memory material may be configured to change in shape in response to receiving electrical power to thereby lock or unlock the lock mechanism.
