A gearbox isolator (10) is provided to allow the gas within a gearbox cavity (50) to expand and contract in a manner that prevents the ingestion of airborne contaminants such as moisture and particulate matter. The gearbox isolator utilizes a breather bladder (22), a check valve (36) for venting gas to the atmosphere when the breather bladder is filled to capacity, and a desiccant filter (32) to provide make-up air to the gearbox when the breather bladder is empty. The desiccant filter is provided in a sealed canister (34) having a check valve (38) allowing atmospheric gas into the sealed canister when needed.

CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION

Inventive embodiments are directed to components, subassemblies, systems, and/or methods for continuously variable transmissions (CVT). In one embodiment, a main axle is adapted to receive a shift rod that cooperates with a shift rod nut to actuate a ratio change in a CVT. In another embodiment, an axial force generating mechanism can include a torsion spring, a traction ring adapted to receive the torsion spring, and a roller cage retainer configured to cooperate with the traction ring to house the torsion spring. Various inventive idler-and-shift-cam assemblies can be used to facilitate shifting the ratio of a CVT. Embodiments of a hub shell and a hub cover are adapted to house components of a CVT and, in some embodiments, to cooperate with other components of the CVT to support operation and/or functionality of the CVT. Among other things, shift control interfaces and braking features for a CVT are disclosed.

The clutch pack can include a plurality of annular plates that are interleaved between a plurality of annular friction disks. At least one of the annular plates and annular friction disks can include a plurality of radially extending plate ears that are received by the corresponding plurality of clutch ear guides. The plurality of lock pins can be received by the plurality of first lock pin engaging surfaces of the first differential case at locations in-line with the clutch ear guides.

A gearbox housing includes a housing body enclosing a housing interior and having a passage opening for a gearbox output shaft surrounded by a connecting surface. A plurality of bores is formed in the housing body and extends through the housing body wall to fill oil into or drain it out of the housing interior, detect the oil level in the housing interior and vent the housing interior. The bores, which are provided as an oil filling opening, an oil draining opening, a venting opening and a level measuring opening during operation, are positioned in such a manner that they can be introduced into the housing body from two adjacent housing sides. This enables machining with a single clamping, with the result that changeover times are unnecessary and the housing body is consequently easy to manufacture.

A universal bellhousing which may be adapted to a variety of automotive engine and transmission combinations and method of making the same is disclosed. The bellhousing is made by spin forming a sheet of material and welding a transmission plate onto the cone. The cone and transmission plate are indexed to mount to a specified engine-transmission combination.

Retrofittable motorized gearbox assembly

The invention is a motorized gearbox assembly. The motorized gearbox assembly includes a motor that drives an output shaft. The output shaft actuates a window covering by applying torque to a tilt rod of the window covering. The output shaft extends substantially an entire length of the motorized gearbox assembly. It also has a through-channel that extends substantially an entire length of the output shaft, so that the tilt rod can pass entirely through the motorized gearbox assembly. Because of this, the motorized gearbox assembly can be used for retrofitting blinds. In some embodiments, the motorized gearbox assembly has a diametrically polarized magnet driven by the output shaft, and a position encoder that measures the output shaft's position and number of rotations.

In a standard gear unit, which, in a first variant, is implemented with an output-side bearing and an outgoing shaft, and which, in a second variant, is able to be implemented with an intermediate flange inserted at the bearing position of the output-side bearing, the intermediate flange is formed such that, with an associated, differently formed outgoing shaft, a robot interface or flange block interface is able to be formed on the output side.
