Electric cutting system

An electric power saw/cutter includes a rotatable saw structure, a rear handle with a switch/speed control, a front handle, and a drive unit for rotating the saw structure. The drive unit includes a saw structure drive arrangement to which the saw structure is attachable, a transmission for driving the saw drive arrangement, an electric motor for driving an input shaft of the transmission, and a support structure for holding/carrying the saw structure drive arrangement. The transmission and the electric motor may be characterized in that the front handle and the rear handle are directly connected to each other to form a handle unit, which unit is resiliently connected to the drive unit, so that vibrations from the saw blade and drive unit will be reduced in the handle unit.

Method and Apparatus for Display Screen Shield Replacement
20190270212 · 2019-09-05 · ·

A method and apparatus for replacement of damages display shield (typically glass) covering a display screen on a device, typically a mobile phone. Mobile phones have an electronic display protected by a glass shield. Between the glass and the display is often a plastic polarizing or other intermediary sheet. Removal of a damage glass can be accomplished by cutting thru the polarizer with a moving wire or blade. This separates the glass from the sensitive display and allows replacement of the glass without damaging the more expensive display.

RIBBON CUTTING AND SEALING APPARATUS
20190270217 · 2019-09-05 ·

A cutting apparatus configured to hold an elongate element, such as a ribbon, in a desired orientation as the elongate element is cut into two sections. A cutting element of such a cutting apparatus may be confined to a single orientation relative to that of the elongate element, reducing or eliminating the likelihood of misalignment between the cutting element and the elongate element immediately before the elongate element is cut. In some embodiments, the cutting apparatus, or even its cutting element, may be configured to seal the newly cut ends of the elongate element. Methods for cutting and or sealing elongate elements, such as ribbons, are also disclosed.

Burn wire release mechanism for spacecraft and terrestrial applications

A burn wire release mechanism for a spacecraft or other system having two masses initially held together by a pretensioned loop, with a spring configured to push the masses apart. The burn wire release system includes at least one burn wire held in contact with the pretensioned loop material. When an electrical current flows through the burn wire, the wire heats up and severs the pretensioned loop, and the masses are pushed apart by the spring.

Separation system and burn wire release mechanism for tethered spacecraft

A tethered spacecraft has a first endmass and a second endmass with a telescoping stacer spring and a tether arranged between the endmasses. The spring is coiled around a center rod and initially contained within a housing, the spring being biased to push the first endmass away from the second endmass. The spring housing is affixed to the first endmass, a first end of the spring being affixed to the spring housing, and tether are affixed to spring at one end and to the second endmass at the other end. A pretensioned loop holds the endmasses abuttingly together, and a burnwire release mechanism cuts the loop to deploy the spring. Upon deployment, the spring extends to its full length to form a cylindrical boom, and the endmasses continue to move outward along the spring centerline until stopped by the tether.

Flange mechanism and cutting apparatus

A cutting blade is held between a first flange and a second flange to define an annular cutting water supply chamber between the two flanges. The first flange has a plurality of cutting water supply holes, a first holding surface for holding one side surface of the cutting blade, and a plurality of first supply grooves formed on the first holding surface so as to extend in the radial direction of the first flange. The second flange has a second holding surface for holding the other side surface of the cutting blade and a plurality of second supply grooves extend in the radial direction of the second flange. Cutting water is supplied from the cutting water supply holes to the cutting water supply chamber and then discharged from the first supply grooves and the second supply grooves by centrifugal force due to rotation of a spindle.

Blade mounting structure requiring less current for a heated cutting blade
10059020 · 2018-08-28 ·

The present invention provides a method and apparatus of reducing current requirements by increasing resistance of the blade structure by reducing the cross sectional area of at least one section of the blade so that the electrical current requirements for heating of the blade to cutting temperature are reduced wherein the power supply and substantially entire unit may be mounted within a hand held unit. Methods of shaping blades to perform various heat distributions for specialty blades for custom cutting are disclosed. Further, an improved blade mounting structure is provided which includes structure for maintaining the legs of the blade parallel to the direction of cut and provides for easy insertion of new blades by maintaining a slotted blade cradle stable and in alignment with the blades and a clamp member away from the blade when the clamp mounting structure is loosened.
