Fabricating embedded fragmentation cases for anti-personnel mines
A method of permanently affixing tungsten cube fragments to the fragmentation warhead in a convex Claymore mine having a plastic case and a housing. Pieces of predetermined sized structural film adhesive are positioned at temperature 60 F.5 F., then pressed into the plastic case while pouring tungsten cubes into the case. The cubes are arranged into desired patterns all at temperature 70 F.2 F. An interface plate and 5 lbs of weight are then placed atop thereof and all are heated in an oven at temperature 205 F.5 F. for four hours for full cure of a desired product.
Nanoscale fiber films, composites, and methods for alignment of nanoscale fibers by mechanical stretching
Articles including nanoscale fibers aligned by mechanical stretching are provided. Methods for making composite materials comprising a network of aligned nanoscale fibers are also provided. The network of nanoscale fibers may be substantially devoid of a liquid, and may be a buckypaper. The network of nanoscale fibers also may be associated with a supporting medium.
Filter assemblies and methods for producing filter assemblies
A filter assembly having at least two filter caps produced from a planar composite sheet of heat liquefied adhesive and metal layer (typically sheet metal). The filter caps are adhered to a porous, typically pleated, filter media positioned, which is generally an air filter, within channels of each filter cap wherein the adhesive, typically a plastisol, adheres the filter caps to the filter media and can impregnate the filter media.
FLOW STRUCTURES FOR USE WITH AN ELECTROCHEMICAL CELL
The design and method of fabrication of a three-dimensional, porous flow structure for use in a high differential pressure electrochemical cell is described. The flow structure is formed by compacting a highly porous metallic substrate and laminating at least one micro-porous material layer onto the compacted substrate. The flow structure provides void volume greater than about 55% and yield strength greater than about 12,000 psi. In one embodiment, the flow structure comprises a porosity gradient towards the electrolyte membrane, which helps in redistributing mechanical load from the electrolyte membrane throughout the structural elements of the open, porous flow structure, while simultaneously maintaining sufficient fluid permeability and electrical conductivity through the flow structure.
Molded article covered with film
PURPOSE: The present invention provides a molded article which comprises a substrate whose surface is covered with a film, has good appearance, and does not deteriorate in the appearance even in severe environment where the article is actually used, such as high-temperature environment. CONSTITUTION: A molded article comprising a substrate whose surface is partially or wholly covered with a film, wherein the film has an adhesive layer, the adhesive layer is in contact with the substrate and the surface of the substrate, which surface is in contact with the adhesive layer, has a surface roughness (A) of 3 to 20 m.
Method of manufacturing a portable electronic device
Portable electronic device capable of processing information, said portable electronic device including a body arranged to be capable of being secured to the user, and at least one electronic assembly for processing information, the body of the portable electronic device being formed by a layer of plastic material which gives the portable electronic device a shape and thickness, characterized in that the portable electronic device includes a first impermeable plastic film which serves as a coating for the layer of plastic material, and a second impermeable plastic film secured to the periphery of the first impermeable plastic film, and in that the electronic assembly for processing information is arranged between the first and second impermeable plastic films. The invention also concerns a method of manufacturing a portable electronic device.
Tool organizer and method of making the same
A tool organizer and method of making the same is provided which allows a user to quickly and easily store tools and other items of various sizes, shapes and configurations. The customizable organizer includes a depressible core capable of maintaining an impression of an object that is pressed into it. The organizer also includes a covering material such as a fabric, flock or elastomeric coating, which protects the outer surface of the core, and also provides an aesthetically pleasing appearance. A tacky adhesive is applied on an upper surface of the core so that when a tool or other item is pressed into the covering material that overlay the core, the tacky adhesive maintains the covering material in close conformity to the customized impression of the tool or other item created in the organizer.
Bodily implant
In one embodiment, an implant includes a body member, a first arm member and a second arm member. The body member is formed of a first material and has a first side portion and a second side portion. The body member has a first stiffness and includes multiple apertures through the body member. The first arm member is formed of a second material and is coupled to and extends from the body member. The second arm member is formed of the second material and is coupled to and extends from the body member. The first arm member and the second arm member have a second stiffness, the second stiffness being more than the first stiffness.
Automated production of acoustic structures
A laser cuts overlapping ribbons of acoustic material into acoustic devices. An automatically controlled manipulator includes an end effector having groups of placement tools for simultaneously placing multiple acoustic devices in a cellular core. The placement tools include mandrels provided with vacuum pickups for picking up and holding the acoustic devices during transport to the core. A vision system aligns the placement tools with the cells of the core. The end effector includes a thermal radiation device for bonding the acoustic devices to the core.
Automated door assembly, press, and adhesive therefor
Provided is a system and method of making a door having first and second door skins and an internal frame. The top and bottom surfaces of the frame are coated with an adhesive and the frame is placed on a first door skin. The second door skin is then placed on the opposite surface of the frame. The assembled components are then pressed to bond the first and second door skins to the frame.
