STUB SHAFT
Apparatus and methods for achieving a high strength bonded joint between a stub connector and a shaft.
OUTER JOINT MEMBER OF A CONSTANT VELOCITY UNIVERSAL JOINT
An outer joint member of a constant velocity universal joint includes a cup section having track grooves formed in an inner periphery thereof, which are engageable with torque transmitting elements, and a shaft section formed at a bottom portion of the cup section. The cup section and the shaft section are formed as separate members, and by bringing a cup member forming the cup section and a shaft member forming the shaft section into abutment against each other at respective joining end surfaces and welding them, a hollow cavity portion is formed. The cup member has, at an axial center, a ventilation hole that communicates with the hollow cavity portion and any one of the joining end surfaces of the cup member and the joining end surface of the shaft member has a welding spatter receiving groove formed on a radially inner side thereof.
METHOD, BRAZED ARTICLE, AND BRAZING ASSEMBLY
A method includes heating a brazing material in a braze chamber of a first component to a braze temperature to melt the brazing material. The brazing material flows from the braze chamber, through at least one internal channel of the first component, and into a braze gap between the first component and a second component to braze the first component to the second component. A brazed article includes a first component having a braze chamber and at least one internal channel extending from the braze chamber to an external surface, a second component having at least one braze surface separated from the external surface of the first component by a braze gap, and a braze material in the braze gap. A braze assembly includes a first component, a second component, and a brazing material in the braze chamber.
FRP DRIVE SHAFT
An FRP drive shaft includes an end joint joined to at least one end of an FRP cylinder via an outer collar. The end joint includes a serrated portion on an outer periphery thereof. The outer collar includes a small-diameter collar portion and a large-diameter collar portion. The serrated portion is press-fitted into an inner periphery of the FRP cylinder and fixed to an inner periphery of the small-diameter collar portion. A gap between an inner periphery of the large-diameter collar portion and an outer periphery of the FRP cylinder is filled with an adhesive for fixing the inner periphery of the large-diameter collar portion and the outer periphery of the FRP cylinder to each other. An adhesive-accumulating space which partially increases a filling amount of the adhesive is formed between the inner periphery of the large-diameter collar portion and the outer periphery of the FRP cylinder.
Cast end cap mounting module
An end cap mounting module comprises an end cap body that is cast as a single-piece component that has a first mount interface for connection to a catalytic converter and a second mount interface for connection to an exhaust pipe. The single-piece end cap body can include at least one integrally formed sensor boss and/or fastener boss.
Rotational coupling device and method
In an illustrative embodiment, an apparatus includes a first rod formed from a first material and a second rod formed from a second material. The first rod includes a first end defining a cavity exposed at an end of the first rod. The cavity has a cavity length and a cavity width perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the first rod. The cavity length is greater than the cavity width. The second rod includes a first section and a second section. The first section has a width that corresponds to the cavity width and a length that corresponds to the cavity length. The apparatus includes a bonding structure that attaches the first rod to the second rod.
DOUBLE SHEAR BONDED JOINT AND METHOD FOR MAKING SAME
Described are channel joints (1) for bonding a tube or tubular member (30) to an end fitting (20) in double shear. The channel joint may include a receiving channel (25) in the end fitting (20) that is complementary in shape to the tube, tubular member, or other hollow member (30) that is to be fitted and bonded with the end fitting. The use of a channel joint allows for simplified assembly because the receiving channel acts as a reservoir for the bonding agent or adhesive (50). Upon insertion of the tube, tubular member, or other hollow member into the adhesive-loaded receiving channel, the adhesive will backflow to fill the voids in the joint and expel the excess adhesive. The resulting joint is less likely to have voids, has additional bonding area compared to lap joints, and prevents the adhesive or bonding agent from experiencing tensile loads.
VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM
A vehicle is disclosed which includes a controller having at least one of a vehicle security module and a playback module. The vehicle security module may operate in a secure once mode of operation or in a secure all mode of operation. The playback module records ride information associated with the vehicle. The ride information may be provided to an external device.
Magnet holder and magnet unit
In a magnet holder 4 including: a shaft attachment portion 41 to which a shaft 2 is press-fitted and fixed; and a magnet holding portion 42 that is provided on one side in an axial direction of the shaft attachment portion 41 and holds a periphery of a magnet 5, and provided with an undercut portion 50 that engages with the magnet 5 in the axial direction on an inner peripheral surface 43 of the magnet holding portion 42 facing the magnet 5, the magnet holding portion 42 and the shaft attachment portion 41 are integrally formed of sintered metal, an outer peripheral surface and an end surface of the magnet holding portion 42 and an inner peripheral surface of the shaft attachment portion 41 are sized, and the undercut portion 50 is formed by plastic deformation of the magnet holding portion 42.
