A vertical joint system 10 for substrates 12 is formed with joints Jm and Jf which engaged by relative motion in a direction perpendicular to major surfaces 14 and 16 of the substrate 12. The joints are configured to enable relative rotation of up to 3 degrees (i.e. clockwise or anticlockwise) while maintaining engagement of the joints. The joints Jm and Jf are further configured to form two locking planes 18, 20 one on each of the inner and outer most sides of the joint. Engagement about the locking planes 18, 20 is provided by transverse outward extending surfaces Cm1, Cm2, Cf1 and Cf2. The surface Cf1 and Cf2 overhang the surfaces Cm1 and Cm2. At least one surface in each pair of engaging surfaces: Cf1 and Cm1; and, Cf2 and Cm2 is smoothly curved. The joints Jm and Jf can be further arranged to provide a third locking plane 74 parallel to and between the locking planes 18, 20. The joints are disengaged by combination of a downward rotation of one joint relative the other then application of a downward force. By virtue of these features flooring with the joint system can be laid on sub-surfaces which have undulations greater than current world industry standards. Additionally replacement of damaged substrates is possible by vertical lifting of damaged substrates without the need to pull up excess flooring from the closest wall to the damaged substrates.

Connectors for spacers of insulating glass units and spacer comprising a connector for an insulating glass unit

A technique for improving the retention force between a connector (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 100, 101) and a spacer (1) for insulating glass units is disclosed.

QUICK-RELEASE ADAPTER
20180163765 · 2018-06-14 ·

A quick-release adapter consists of a top unit and a base unit. The top unit has a downwardly-extending cylindrical hub with multiple lobes extending radially outward from the hub. The lobes each have an inclined upper surface and a flat, horizontal lower surface. The base unit has a cavity that is sized and shaped to match the lower portion of the top unit, with multiple lobe-shaped openings and side walls with inclined upper surfaces that match the incline of the upper surfaces of the lobes. A detent plunger protrudes through the lower surface of the cavity at a location that is 45 offset from the center of one of the lobe-shaped openings. In operation, the top unit is aligned with the base unit so that the lobes of the top unit are aligned with the lobe-shaped openings. The top unit is then inserted into the base unit so that the lower surface of one of the lobes depresses the detent plunger. The top unit is then rotated until the detent plunger engages the recess in the lower surface of one of the lobes. This locks the top unit from further rotation. A tension screw is then tightened so that it bears on the inclined surface of one of the lobes. The tension screw, acting in cooperation with the inclined surfaces of the lobes, forces the top unit down and away from the tension screw, thereby eliminating any potential backlash.

Tool locking mechanism

A locking mechanism for use with a tool has a tool having a first working end, an opposite second end, a central axis therebetween, and a least one axial recess formed on an outer surface of the tool. A cap is rotatably received on the tool opposite second end, the cap comprising at least one recess formed on an outer surface thereon. The cap is rotatable between a first position in which the cap at least one recess aligns with the tool at least one recess, and a second position in which the cap at least one recess is out of alignment with the tool at least one recess. The locking mechanism further comprises a detent operatively positioned between the tool and the cap. The detent may be a pin and a spring, where the spring biases the cap into the second position.

A coupling for connecting a driving device to an expander head configured to expand pipes and hoses and to be actuated via an expanding mandrel driven by the driving device includes a first coupling part associated with the driving device and a second coupling part associated with the expander head. The first coupling part includes a through-hole that acts as a passage for the expanding mandrel and radially outwardly projecting circumferential portions disposed at a circumference, a rear face of the circumferential portions including at least one contact face. When connected, the coupling parts are disposed along an axis along which the expanding mandrel is movable for the actuation of the expander head. The second coupling part includes at least one counter-portion configured to act on a respective one of the at least one contact face of the circumferential portions.

COMPOSED ELEMENT, MULTI-LAYERED BOARD AND PANEL-SHAPED ELEMENT FOR FORMING THIS COMPOSED ELEMENT

Composed element, wherein this composed element comprises at least two panel-shaped elements, which substantially are formed from a board material; wherein said panel-shaped elements are interconnected at an angle by means of coupling devices including a tongue and a groove, which coupling devices substantially are made as profiled parts in the board material; and wherein said coupling devices also include locking elements, which, in coupled condition, prevent the moving apart of the tongue and groove. The panel-shaped elements are formed on the basis of board material in the form of particle board consisting of two or more layers, which in respect to the average fineness of the particles, show a different degree of fineness, namely a basic layer with coarser particles, more particularly chips, and at least one outer layer, or at least a more outward-situated layer, which is of a finer composition than the composition of the basic layer, in other words, with particles, chips, respectively, which on average are finer.
