Adjustable diameter hole cutter
A hole cutter assembly is operable to cut a plurality of different sized diameter holes in a work piece. The hole cutter assembly includes an arbor configured to connect to a power tool for rotation about an axis, and a body coupled to the arbor for rotation with the arbor. The body defines an aperture. The hole cutter assembly includes a drill bit removably received in the aperture of the body for rotation with the arbor, an arm moveably coupled to the body, and a cutting blade coupled to the arm and moveable with the arm relative to the body. The arm is moveable relative to the body to adjust a cutting diameter of the hole cutter assembly when the drill bit is not received within the aperture. The arm is fixed relative to the body when the drill bit is received within the aperture.
Toothform for a cutting tool, such as a hole saw
A cutting tool includes a body, a plurality of cutting teeth formed on the body, a plurality of non-cutting protrusions formed on the body, and a plurality of gullets formed on the body. Each gullet is formed between one of the plurality of cutting teeth and one of the plurality of non-cutting protrusions. Each gullet has a base and a gullet depth measured from the base to a tip of a corresponding cutting tooth. Each non-cutting protrusion is located approximately halfway between the tips of two adjacent cutting teeth and has a height that is at most about 75% of the gullet depth.
Hole saw
A hole saw includes a cylindrical body disposed along an axis of rotation with a side wall extending axially from a cap end to a cutting end. The cutting end includes a plurality of cutting teeth. The hole saw also includes a cap coupled to the cap end of the cylindrical body. The side wall defines an elongated aperture configured to receive a tool for removing work piece plugs from within the cylindrical body. The elongated aperture has a first slot portion adjacent the cutting edge. The first slot portion is oriented perpendicular to the axis of rotation. The elongated aperture also has a second slot portion connected to the first slot portion and extending from the first slot portion toward the cap end. The second slot portion is oriented at an oblique angle relative to the axis of rotation.
Hole saw with large carbide overhang
A hole saw with various teeth sets and/or sizes that overhang a sidewall is provided. In some embodiments, a large tooth overhangs an inner diameter of the sidewall to create a larger kerf than the sidewall's thickness. Similarly, a tooth set or variations in the circumferential directions of the teeth increase the kerf in a work-piece, either inward or outward. In various embodiments, one or both an enlarged tooth overhang and/or a set of the teeth increases the kerf of the hole saw relative to the sidewall thickness. This results in improved wear resistance, decreased heat on the teeth while cutting, and facilitates slug removal.
HOLE CUTTER WITH MULTIPLE FULCRUMS
A hole cutter has a cylindrical blade body including a cutting edge and one or more axially-elongated apertures formed within a side wall of the blade body. The axially-elongated aperture is configured to receive a lever, such as a screwdriver, therethrough. Each axially-elongated aperture includes a first fulcrum axially spaced adjacent to the cutting edge, a second fulcrum axially spaced further away from the cutting edge than the first fulcrum, and optionally a third fulcrum axially spaced between the first and second fulcrums. A lever, such as a screwdriver, can be inserted into the aperture and placed against each of the fulcrums to lever slugs out of the interior of the blade body.
Cutting portion for a drill bit
A cutting portion, which is rotatable in a direction of rotation about an axis of rotation, is disclosed. The cutting portion has an annular portion, one or more cutting elements which are disposed on a first end of the annular portion, and an insertion element which is disposed on the annular portion at an end that is remote from the cutting elements. The insertion element has at least one slit-shaped clearance with a cross-slit and a connecting slit, where the cross-slit is arranged perpendicularly in relation to the axis of rotation and is connected by way of the connecting slit to an upper edge of the insertion element.
KEYHOLE SAW
A tool for creating a wall opening. The tool includes a hole saw; and a centering jig having a center axis, where the centering jig is constructed as a centering ring, into which the hole saw can be pushed at least partly, and in that both the hole saw and the centering ring have on their circumference an opening such that this can be pushed transverse to the center axis completely onto a line.
Drill bit with a replaceable cutting portion
A drill bit rotatable about a rotation axis is disclosed. The drill bit has a first drill bit portion configured as a cutting portion and has an annular portion connected at one end to one or more cutting elements and, at another end, a first connection device. The drill bit has a second drill bit portion configured as a drilling shank portion and has a cylindrical drill shaft, which on one end has a second connection device. The first and second connection devices in a connected state form a detachable connection, and a force transmission and torque transmission occur from the drill shaft portion to the cutting portion. The cutting portion has a third connection device, and the drill shaft portion has a fourth connection device. The third and fourth connection devices in a connected state form in an axial direction parallel to the axis a form-fitting connection.
Nail head removal tool
A nail head removal tool is disclosed to be rotated by an electric drill to cut off the rusted head of a nail that has been driven into a wooden surface. The nail head removal tool includes an outer cutting body having a cylindrical cutting end with a plurality of cutting teeth extending therearound. An inner cutting insert is press fit into an insert cavity formed in the cylindrical cutting end of the outer cutting body. The inner cutting insert has a pair of cutting blades spaced from one another and standing upwardly from a cutting head of the insert. When a rotational force is applied to the tool, the cutting teeth at the cutting end of the outer cutting body cut into the surface around the nail, and the cutting blades at the cutting had of the inner cutting insert cut off and pulverize the rusted nail head.
Hole saw guide device
A guide for a hole saw for making a new larger hole in a work piece with an existing hole, the guide comprising a base sized to span the existing hole, the base comprising a central aperture, a plurality of discrete first contact surfaces for abutting an interior cylindrical wall of the existing hole, and a plurality of discrete second contact surfaces for abutting an exterior surface of the work piece surrounding the existing hole; the plurality of discrete second contact surfaces being substantially co-planar and being substantially perpendicular to the plurality of discrete first contact surfaces; a shaft having a first end sized to be received in an arbor of the hole saw and a second end to be slidably and rotatably received through the central aperture of the base; and the base biased to be located at or near the second end of the shaft.
