Cutting tool

A cutting tool including a body, a blade, a feed shaft, and a locking member. The body defines an axis and is adapted to be received by a spindle of a power tool. The blade is removably supportable on the body and rotatable about the axis for cutting a workpiece. A feed shaft is removably supportable in the body and rotatable about the axis for engaging a workpiece, the feed shaft being mountable in the cutting tool to engage and at least partially restrain the blade. The feed shaft further includes an opening transverse to the axis. The locking member is engageable with the body and with the opening in the feed shaft. Advancement of the locking member into the opening tightens both the blade and the feed shaft to the body.

A cutting burr that includes a pair of axially spaced diamond-shaped portions designed to be keyed into a spindle of a locking mechanism of a high speed surgical drilling instrument and adapted to fit into a single pawl thereof to lock said cutting burr in place so as to prevent axial movement thereof and provide concentric rotation of said cutting burr without any wobbling. The orientation of both portions may be identical with respect to a center plan and diamond shape in the portion at the proximal end of the shank of the cutting tool may be larger than the intermediately located diamond shape of the other portion. The apexes of the facets of the six-sided diamond shape may be disposed below the surface of the shank of the cutting burr.

A method of installing cable through material, for example, concrete, wood, masonry, plastic steel, or the like comprising a drill bit with a distal end having a hollow tip with an attachment mechanism for receiving the cable. The drill bit is drilled through the material, and left in place while the cable is attached to the proximal end of the drill bit. There is no need to remove the drill bit from the aperture or material to attach the cable thereto. After attachment to the drill bit, the cable is inserted through the aperture with the drill bit and removed from the drill bit after it passes through the material so it can be attached to a receiver device.

Bolt hole with improved threads and tap for manufacture thereof

In a part having a surface, a bolt hole is provided extending into the part from the surface. Threads in the hole have crests with a fishmouth shape at the crests defined by a central concave portion and raised corner portions at ends of the concave portion. At least one start thread preceding the threads with the fishmouth shape crests is provided having a substantially flat crest without the fishmouth shape. A tap for manufacturing the threaded bolt hole has a first thread section and a second thread section. The second thread section has a plurality of threads for creating at least one improved start thread in the hole to be threaded, minor diameters at valleys between the threads of the second thread section being greater than minor diameters at valleys between threads of the first thread section or major diameters at crests of the threads of the second thread section being greater than major diameters at crests of the first thread section.

Cutting head, rotary tool and support for the rotary tool and for the accommodation of the cutting head

A cutting head is formed for insertion into a support in a modular rotary tool, in particular a drill. The coupling head has a coupling having torque surfaces and clamping surfaces on its outer periphery. The coupling pin is divided into a front pin part and a rear pin part. The front pin part is defined by a circumferential groove. Stop surfaces for an axial pullout safety are formed in the transition area between the two the front pin part and the rear pin part. The torque surfaces and the clamping surfaces are arranged in different pin parts. For example, the clamping surfaces are preferably formed on the front pin part and the torque surfaces are preferably formed in the rear pin part.
