Dust and debris collection system for woodworking routers
10016868 · 2018-07-10 · ·

A dust and debris collection system for use with woodworking routers, including a baffle, a dust collection hood, and a brush. The baffle includes a top surface, where the top surface is configured to deflect cooling air generated by a woodworking router out and away from the woodworking router in order to allow the woodworking router adequate cooling and efficient dust collection. The dust collection hood is located adjacent to the baffle and includes a sloped wall that is aerodynamically shaped to remove dust and debris and includes a central bit hole configured to accept a bit. The brush has a series of bristles extending from the dust collection hood. The brush and its bristles contain dust and debris.

Systems and methods for real-time monitoring of micromilling tool wear

The wear status of a micro-endmill tool may be inferred by monitoring the chip production rate of the tool in operation. Chips may be extracted from a work area, captured on an adhesive surface, imaged, and counted to determine the chip production rate. When the rate of chip production falls, the feed rate of the micro-endmill may be modified to a level suitable for the current state of tool wear. In this manner, costly and inconvenient work stoppages to evaluate the wear status of a tool are eliminated.

Machine tool including chip conveyor

A chip conveyor which discharges chips produced by a machine tool from the inside of a splash guard is provided inside the splash guard that prevents the chips from being scattered. A chip carrying unit of the chip conveyor is attached to the splash guard so as to be movable with respect to the splash guard in the up and down direction. Accordingly, even when the chips are stuck between the chip carrying unit and the splash guard, the chip carrying unit automatically moves, and hence the chip stuck state may be resolved.

INDEXABLE PLENUM
20180161948 · 2018-06-14 ·

An indexable plenum and a method of using the plenum to collect dust and/or debris during a cutting or milling process are disclosed. The plenum, when attached to the spindle nose of a conventional machine, enables the conventional machine that does not have a hollow spindle nose to be used with a hollow or conventional solid cutter to remove dust and/or debris generated during the cutting process. The indexable plenum comprises a hollow body and a base plate. Hollow bodies of different shape and size that are able to fit differently shaped and sized cutters are disclosed. The hollow bodies can be designed to releasably engage with the same base plate such that when the base plate is attached to the machine spindle nose, hollow bodies can be exchanged during a milling or cutting process to accommodate correspondingly shaped/sized cutters. In various embodiments, the object that is cut or milled is low density foam.

Hard drive data destroying device
09959889 · 2018-05-01 · ·

Three systems for the destruction of the data storage portion of electronic media storage devices such as hard disk drives, solid state drives and hybrid hard drives. One system utilizes a mill cutter with which the hard drive has relative motion in the direction of the axis of the mill cutter to destroy the data storage portion. A second system utilizes a laser to physically destroy the data storage portion. The third system utilizes a chemical solvent to chemically destroy the data storage portion.

A machine tool includes: an exterior cover covering a machining area where a workpiece on a worktable is machined by a machining tool; an articulated robot arranged inside the exterior cover and configured to replace the workpiece on the worktable; a controller configured to control a posture of the articulated robot and a coordinate point at which a hand of the articulated robot is positioned; and an air nozzle arranged inside the exterior cover and configured to remove scattered matter that has been generated during machining of the workpiece and has adhered at least to the hand when the articulated robot is set at a predetermined posture or when the hand is moved to a predetermined coordinate point.

Cover for cutting tool, holder for cutting, and cutting device

A cutting tool cover set to a cutting tool which includes a hollow shaft body and at least one insert attached to an end face of the shaft body and cuts by bringing the insert into contact with a work while rotating the shaft body. The cutting tool cover includes: a body portion fixed to a top end portion of the shaft body; and an extension portion extended outward from the circumferential edge of the body portion in the entire circumference of the top end portion of the body portion to cover the surface of the work.
