At least one bearing unit provides rotationally mounting of the rotor unit in the stator unit. The tool receiver is arranged in an end region of the rotor unit. The stator unit has a stator housing with an end section arranged in the end region of the rotor unit. The stator unit comprises at least one motor, having a second electromagnetic drive system, with a stator and a rotational rotor, wherein the rotor has at least one rotational housing element of the end section of the stator unit.

The main spindle device for a machine tool is provided with: a bearing for rotatably supporting the main spindle; a bearing case for holding the bearing; a housing inside which the bearing case is disposed; and a stiffness-switching device, which supports the bearing case with respect to the housing and is able to switch the stiffness of the bearing case support between multiple levels. When the stiffness-switching device is supporting the bearing case at a low stiffness, the main spindle device is formed so that the bearing case slides with respect to the housing. A friction member is disposed on the area where the bearing case slides with respect to the housing.

Systems and methods are provided for providing scatter/gather data processing. In accordance with an embodiment, a such a system can include a cluster of one or more high performance computing systems, each including one or more processors and a high performance memory. The cluster communicates over an InfiniBand network. The system can also include a middleware environment, executing on the cluster, that includes one or more application server instances. The system can further include a plurality of muxers. Each application server instance includes at least one muxer, and each muxer is operable to collect data from a plurality of locations in the high performance memory, and transfer the data in bulk.

The spindle unit comprises: a spindle shaft rotatably supported in a housing, a chucking device disposed at the spindle shaft for clamping a workpiece or a tool, a motor drive connected to the spindle shaft for driving the spindle shaft around a drive axis, a clamping device for clamping the spindle shaft at a freely selectable angular position around the drive axis, wherein the clamping device is disposed between the spindle shaft and a stationary part of the spindle unit, and an actuating device for actuating and/or releasing the clamping device. The clamping device can be axially actuated in the direction of the drive axis such that an axial or substantial axial clamping force acts in the direction of the drive axis with the clamping device being actuated.

The spindle includes a locking arrangement (40) mounted movable between the first and second sections by a switchover arrangement (50), between a first position in which the first and second sections are in full connection and a second position allowing axial movement of the second section relative to the first section, enabling the control rod to be moved axially under the action of the second actuator to control the attachment system in a released position of the tool holder.
