Metallic glass meshes, actuators, sensors, and methods for constructing the same
Described herein are methods of constructing a part using metallic glass alloys, layer by layer, as well as metallic glass-forming materials designed for use therewith. Metallic glass meshes, metallic glass actuators, three dimensional metallic glass thermal history sensors, and methods of their manufacture are also disclosed.
Stainless substrate having a gold-plating layer, and process of forming a partial gold-plating pattern on a stainless substrate
The process of forming a partial gold-plating pattern on a stainless substrate includes a first plating step, a second plating step, and a stripping step. In the first plating step, pretreatment is applied to a stainless substrate including opposite main planes and a processing site formed of a plane different from the main planes, after which a first gold-plating layer is formed all over the surface of the stainless substrate using a hydrochloric acid plating solution. In the second plating step, mask plating is used to form a second gold-plating layer on the first gold-plating layer that covers the processing site in a desired pattern, and in the stripping step, a portion of the first gold-plating layer in an area where there is none of the second gold-plating layer is stripped off using an alkaline stripping solution.
HELICAL LAYER STRUCTURE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD OF HELICAL LAYER STRUCTURE
Embodiments provide a helical layer structure including: a helical core member which is formed of a flexible, lengthy, flat plate-like core member and which is formed of a steel plate made of a metal material, such as iron; and a polymeric coating layer which is formed of a polymeric material such as a thermosetting elastic material or a thermoplastic elastic material, and which coats the helical core member. The manufacturing method of the helical layer structure includes: a feeding step of feeding a core member having flexibility; a supply step of supplying the polymeric material having fluidity; a coating step of coating the core member with the polymeric material; a cooling step of cooling a coated intermediate which is coated with the polymeric material; and a helix formation step of helically twisting the coated intermediate to form the helical layer structure.
HIGH POWER FIBER LASER EFFUSION HOLE DRILLING APPARATUS AND METHOD OF USING SAME
A fiber laser-treated workpiece is configured with a body having a discontinuous surface which defines a plurality of spaced through-going passages so that each passage is delimited by a peripheral layer having a surface characteristic which includes a recast layer or one or more microcracks or a combination thereof. The passages are provided by a high power Yb fiber laser operating in a pulsed regime and configured to output either a single pulse per an entire passage or a train of pulses per the passage. The Yb fiber laser is so configured that, if formed, the recast layer and micro-crack each are smaller than respective standards in an airspace industry.
Sliding member and method for manufacturing the same
Provided is a sliding member having slidability and abrasion resistance both at satisfactory levels. This sliding member has a sliding surface including a base and a filling part. The base includes a first material and bears regularly arranged concavities. The filling part includes a second material and is arranged in the sliding surface to fill the concavities. The first material includes one selected from the group consisting of a metallic material, a ceramic material, and a carbonaceous material. The second material includes at least one selected from the group consisting of a metallic material, a ceramic material, and a carbonaceous material. The first and second materials differ from each other in at least one of frictional coefficient and hardness. The base and the filling part are substantially flush with each other in the sliding surface.
Multi-layer aluminum alloy sheet product for tubes for heat exchangers
An aluminum sheet product comprises: a core layer comprising one of a 3xxx, 5xxx and 6xxx aluminum alloy; and a liner layer comprising one of a 3xxx aluminum alloy having an additive of 0.5-5% Zn, and a 7xxx aluminum alloy. In some embodiments, the aluminum sheet product r has an O temper pre-braze tensile strength of at least 20 Ksi. In some embodiments the corrosion potential difference between the liner and core is at least 30 millivolts. In some embodiments, the aluminum sheet product further comprises an inner layer comprising one of a 3xxx and a 4xxx aluminum alloy.
Panel, assembly of panels and associated roofing
The present invention provides a panel having a profile. The panel includes a first longitudinal edge including in succession a first longitudinal rib, a flange, and a second longitudinal rib. Each longitudinal rib includes an upper central part and two lateral wings. The panel also includes a central part and a second longitudinal edge including in succession a first lateral portion, a protruding part, and a second lateral portion. The lateral portions have a configuration permitting them to at least partially overlap the upper central parts of the first and second longitudinal ribs. The protruding part is capable of receiving a fastener. The present invention also provides an assembly of panels marginally overlapping, a roofing and a kit for fabrication of roofing.
Electrical device with teeth joining layers and method for making the same
A multilayer electrical device, such as a printed circuit board, having a tooth structure including a metal layer set in a dielectric. The device includes a base; a conductive layer adjacent to the base; a dielectric material adjacent to conductive layer; a tooth structure including a metal layer set in the dielectric material to join the dielectric material to the metal layer; and wherein the metal layer forms a portion of circuitry in a circuit board having multiple layers of circuitry.
Ultra-light micro-lattices and a method for forming the same
The present invention relates to a micro-lattice and, more particularly, to an ultra-light micro-lattice and a method for forming the same. The micro-lattice is a cellular material formed of interconnected hollow tubes. The cellular material has a relative density in a range of 0.001% to 0.3%, and a density of 0.9 mg/cc has been demonstrated. The cellular material also has the ability to recover from a deformation exceeding 50% strain.
