The first and second steel plates are joined together. The formed steel part may also include a butt-weld joining the first and second steel plates.

TEMPLATED FABRICATION OF MATERIALS USING COLD SPRAY DEPOSITION

A method, in accordance with one embodiment, includes forming an array of structures from a raw material via cold spray. Each of the structures is characterized by having a defined feature size in at least one dimension of less than 100 microns as measured in a plane of deposition of the structure, at least 90% of a theoretical density of the raw material, and essentially the same functional properties as the raw material. A method, in accordance with another embodiment, includes positioning a mask between a cold spray nozzle and a substrate, and forming a structure on the substrate by cold spraying a raw material from the cold spray nozzle. The structure has a shape corresponding to an aperture in the mask.

A formed steel part includes a first steel plate having a first base, a first intermetallic alloy layer on the first base and a first metal alloy layer on the first intermetallic alloy layer, the first steel part having a first area without the first metal alloy layer and having at least part of the first intermetallic alloy layer; and a second steel plate having a second base, a second intermetallic alloy layer on the second base and a second metal alloy layer on the second intermetallic alloy layer, the second steel part having a second area without the second metal alloy layer and having at least part of the second intermetallic alloy layer in the second area. The first and second steel plates are joined together. The formed steel part may also include a butt-weld joining the first and second steel plates.

Coated metal strip having an improved appearance

A hot-dip-coated, non-skin-passed, cold-rolled metal strip is provided. The metal coating of the metal strip includes a waviness Wa.sub.0.8 of less than or equal to 0.70 m. Metal parts are also provided.

Twisted block

A block suitable for use in paving, edging or wall applications comprises a lower portion having parallel, substantially vertical side faces that are spaced apart by a first width, and an upper portion having parallel, substantially vertical side faces that are spaced apart by a second width. The second width is smaller than the first width of the lower portion, and the side faces of the upper portion are angled relative to the side faces of the lower portion. The block further comprises a transition portion between the upper and lower portions, having at least one slanted side extending between one or more sides of the lower portion and one or more sides, respectively, of the upper portion.
