Textured sheet metal, and process and apparatus for producing textured sheet metal
A material includes a sheet of metal having a first face and an opposed second face, and a metal grain direction. The first face is textured with a first set of texturing features. Each texturing feature of the first set includes, respectively, a groove cut into the first face and extending along a groove axis, and a barb extending from the groove and away from the first face. The texturing features of the first set are arranged in a plurality of rows, and the groove axes of the texturing features in a given row extend generally parallel to the given row. The rows are generally non-perpendicular to the grain direction.

COBALT CHEMISTRY FOR SMOOTH TOPOLOGY
An electroplated cobalt deposit and a method of electrodepositing cobalt on a surface to produce a level deposit across the surface of the substrate. The cobalt electrolyte contains (1) a source of cobalt ions; (2) boric acid; (3) a pH adjuster; and (4) an organic additive, which contains a suppressor. The electroplated cobalt deposit exhibits a level surface such that the thickness difference across substantially the entire surface of the substrate of less than about 200 nm.
SURFACE-TREATED STEEL SHEET FOR CELL CONTAINER
A surface-treated steel sheet for a battery container includes a steel sheet, an iron-nickel diffusion layer formed on the steel sheet, and a nickel layer foamed on the iron-nickel diffusion layer and constituting the outermost layer. When the Fe intensity and the Ni intensity are continuously measured from the surface of the surface-treated steel sheet for a battery container along the depth direction with a high frequency glow discharge optical emission spectrometric analyzer, the thickness of the iron-nickel diffusion layer being the difference (D2−D1) between the depth (D1) at which the Fe intensity exhibits a first predetermined value and the depth (D2) at which the Ni intensity exhibits a second predetermined value is 0.04 to 0.31 μm; and the total amount of the nickel contained in the iron-nickel diffusion layer and the nickel contained in the nickel layer is 10.8 to 26.7 g/m2.
