Reinforced powder paint for composites
A fiber reinforced powder paint provides improved flexural fatigue resistance for composites substrates. Fiber loading in the powder is greater than 40%. Aramid fiber loading in an epoxy based powder paint is exemplified. A composite bow limb coated with the powder paint survives a remarkably greater number of bending cycles before failure when coated with the powder paint.
Acrylic film, method for producing same, laminate film, laminated injection molded article, and method for producing rubber-containing polymer
An acrylic film having few fish eyes and a method for producing latex of an acrylic rubber-containing polymer having low amounts of coarse particles, excellent filtering properties, and low filter clogging frequency during a filtration step for removing foreign substances are provided. An acrylic film containing an acrylic rubber-containing polymer (G) has a thickness of 30 to 300 m, wherein the number of fish eyes that are 0.001 mm.sup.2 or greater in size is 130/m.sup.2 or fewer when a section having a light transmission rate of 75% or less for light having a wavelength of 400 to 1100 nm was detected as a fish eye.
OPTICALLY CLEAR HOT MELT PROCESSABLE HIGH REFRACTIVE INDEX ADHESIVES
Adhesive compositions that are optically transparent include a (meth)acrylate-based copolymer having a refractive index of at least 1.48, and particles of a thermoplastic polymer. At least some of the particles have an average particle size that is larger than the wavelength of visible light. The adhesive compositions are prepared by hot melt processing packaged adhesive compositions.
Anisotropic conductive film and method of producing the same
An anisotropic conductive film including conductive particles arranged uniformly in a single layer and capable of supporting fine-pitch connection is produced by: drying a coating film of a particle dispersion in which conductive particles are dispersed in a dilute solution of a thermoplastic resin that forms a coating after drying, whereby a conductive particle-containing layer is formed in which the coated conductive particles coated with the dried coating of the dilute solution of the thermoplastic resin and arranged in a single layer stick to the dried coating film; and laminating an insulating resin layer onto the conductive particle-containing layer.
Method for coating with dispersions of active ingredients coated in a polymer layer
The invention seeks protection for a novel method for the surface functionalization of solid materials with one or more active ingredients intended to confer specific properties thereon, such as anti-UV, fluorescence or coloring properties.
Composite Material
Disclosed herein are engineered composite materials suitable for applications that can benefit from a composite material capable of interacting with or responding to, in a controlled or predetermined manner, changes in its surrounding environment. The composite material is generally comprised of a gradient layer structure of a sequence of at least three gradient-contributing layers of microscale particles, wherein a mean particle size of particles of neighboring gradient-contributing layers in the cross section of the gradient layer structure varies from layer to layer, thereby forming a particle size gradient, and in contact with the gradient layer structure, a densely packed particle structure including densely packed microscale particles, wherein a mean particle size of the densely packed microscale particles does not form a particle size gradient in the cross section of the densely packed particle structure.
COMPOSITE BOARDS AND PANELS
A building panel (1) including a water resistant core (5) including thermoplastic material 21 and a surface layer (4) including thermosetting resins. Also, production methods to form a board material (1) with a dry blend of thermoplastic particles 21a in powder form and fillers in powder form and to apply a surface layer (4) with a hot-hot lamination process to a core (5) including such board material.
Process for the continuous preparation of water-absorbent polymers
The invention relates generally to a process for the preparation of water-absorbent polymer particles, comprising the process steps including of drying the polymer gel particles wherein in process step (viii) the gel particles obtained in process step (vii) are charged onto the surface of the belt material of a belt dryer at a position L.sub.0 and are subsequently dried on their way through the belt dryer and wherein the belt material has been cooled before coming into contact with the gel particles. The invention also relates to water-absorbent polymer particles obtainable by such a process.
Sprayable Water-Based Adhesive
Water-based adhesive compositions are improved by the incorporation of hollow polymeric microspheres having outer surfaces coated with one or more barrier materials such as calcium carbonate particles. The adhesive compositions exhibit enhanced rheology, sprayability, drying time, tack and storage stability as compared to analogous adhesives that are not modified with coated hollow polymeric microspheres. Such compositions are useful as both contact adhesives as well as wet bonding one-way adhesives.
