Moisture curable polyamides and methods for using the same
The present invention is directed to polyamides that are crosslinkable in the presence of water having desirable properties including long open time, good adhesion and cold flexibility. Notably, the polyamides of the present invention are suitable for structural and semi-structural bonding applications utilizing a hot melt process, roll coater or bead extrusion process.
Composite plate structure and flexible apparatus
A composite plate structure including a flexible substrate and a release layer is provided. The flexible substrate has an upper surface and a lower surface. The release layer is disposed on the lower surface of the flexible substrate, and includes a hydrophobic material and a bonding material. The hydrophobic material includes at least one fluorine atom. The bonding material at least includes an amide functional group or an epoxy functional group. The bonding material is bonded to the flexible substrate through the amide functional group or the epoxy functional group. A flexible apparatus including the composite plate structure is also provided.
PRINTED ARTICLE AND A FEEDSTOCK
The invention relates to a printed article and a feedstock for printing comprising a matrix forming material, in particular a polymeric material, and a filler material dispersed within the matrix forming material, in which the filler material comprises glass flakes. Glass flakes are characterised as having an aspect ratio of average diameter divided by average thickness greater than or equal to three. Selecting aspect ratio of glass flakes controls an orientation of glass flakes angled relative to a printed layer and formation of a depletion layer in a printed article. Technical effects of angled flakes include better adhesion between successive printed layers in 3D printing and a crack-stopping function. In a preferred embodiment the glass flakes comprise a conductive coating such that a printed article functions as a moisture sensor. Technical effects of a depletion layer include high moisture permeability and so a fast rate of change in electrical resistance due to moisture. A process of manufacturing a feedstock and a process of printing comprising a step of providing glass flakes are also disclosed.
Adhesive composition and structure comprising at least one layer of the said composition
The invention relates to an adhesive composition comprising at least one polyamide noted A, with a mean number of carbon atoms per nitrogen atom, noted C.sub.A, of between 4 and 8.5 and advantageously between 4 and 7; at least one polyamide noted B, with a melting point of greater than or equal to 180° C. and a mean number of carbon atoms per nitrogen atom, noted C.sub.B, of between 7 and 10 and advantageously between 7.5 and 9.5; at least one polyamide noted C, with a mean number of carbon atoms per nitrogen atom, noted C.sub.C, of between 9 and 18 and advantageously between 10 and 18; at least 50% by weight of the said composition being formed from one or more polyamides chosen from polyamides A, B and C, the mass-weighted mean of the heats of fusion of these polyamides in the said composition being greater than 25 J/g (DSC), the mean number of carbon atoms per nitrogen atom of the polyamides A, B and C also satisfying the following strict inequality: C.sub.A<C.sub.B<C.sub.C, and also to multilayer structures using the said composition.
FIBER-REINFORCED COATED MATS AND MAT-FACED PANELS AND METHODS
Fiber-reinforced coated mats and fiber-reinforced coated mat-faced panels are provided herein, along with methods for making the same. Fiber-reinforced coated mats include a mat with a fiber-reinforced coating on one surface. Fiber-reinforced coated mat-faced panels include a fiber-coated mat and a panel material in contact with a surface of the mat opposite the fiber-reinforced coating. Methods include applying a fiber-reinforced coating to a surface of a mat to form a coated mat and drying the coated mat to cure the fiber-reinforced coating. Some methods also include combining the mat with a panel material to form a mat-faced panel.
Ligand functional substrates
A substrate comprising a crosslinked polymer primer layer, and grafted thereto a ligand-functionalized polymer is provided. The grafted polymer has the requisite affinity for binding neutral or negatively charged biomaterials, such as cells, cell debris, bacteria, spores, viruses, nucleic acids, and proteins, at pH's near or below the pI's of the biomaterials.
Multilayer plastic film with separable layers for covering of inflated greenhouse
A multilayered polymeric film for covering an agricultural structure or greenhouse is described herein, wherein the film contains adjacent layers that are capable of delamination from one another. A method of covering an agricultural structure or greenhouse with the multilayered polymeric film can comprise inserting gas between adjacent layers of the film.
