Compositions and methods are described that provide cellulosic and non-cellulosic fabrics with durable antimicrobial properties. Application of a coating that includes polyhexamethylene biguanide, polyethylene glycol, and a binder to a fabric followed by drying and curing was found to provide antimicrobial properties that are retained through over 100 washings under aggressive hospital washing conditions. In addition, tactile properties and tear resistance of the treated fabrics are maintained or improved.

Nonwoven fabrics are provided that include a mechanically entangled blend of fibers comprising (a) post-consumer recycled polymer staple fibers (PCR-staple fibers) and (b) one or more additional fibers, in which the one or more additional fibers are different than the PCR-staple fibers. The PCR-staple fibers are mechanically entangled with the one or more additional fibers to define the nonwoven fabric.

An article of clothing is provided having a plurality of accesses for accessing, when the clothing is worn by a wearer, the area below the clothing without removing the clothing. In one example, the article of clothing is an upper-body garment with two arm accesses, an anterior torso access, and two side torso accesses. In another example, the article of clothing is a lower-body garment with two leg accesses, two knee accesses, and two hip accesses. In one example, each access is opened or closed by an incremental fastening device such as a one-way or two-way zipper.
