DIRECTIONALLY REINFORCED PRODUCTS AND RELATED METHOD
A stitch-bonded tape or other directionally stabilized product wherein stitch-bonding is carried out by overstitching yarns stitched through a sheeting or other surface substrate in conjunction with the introduction of high tenacity lay-in yarn elements disposed longitudinally in the machine direction of formation to provide strength in the length direction. The overstitching yarns secure the lay-in yarns in place relative to the surface substrate. An adhesive or other coating is disposed in covering relation to the lay-in yarn elements.
BINDER-TREATED FIBROUS MATERIALS
A liquid binder composition for binding fibrous materials in the fabrication of resin-infusible preform is disclosed. The binder composition is an aqueous dispersion containing (a) one or more multifunctional epoxy resins, (b) at least one thermoplastic polymer, (c) one or more surfactants selected from anionic surfactants, nonionic surfactants, and combinations thereof, (d) water, and is essentially free of organic solvents. Also disclosed is an emulsification process for producing the liquid binder composition.
AQUEOUS ADHESIVE COMPOSITION BASED ON POLYALDEHYDE AND POLYPHENOL
An aqueous adhesive composition includes: a phenol/aldehyde resin and an unsaturated elastomer latex. The phenol/aldehyde resin is based on: an aromatic polyaldehyde bearing at least two aldehyde functional groups and including at least one aromatic nucleus; and a polyphenol including at least one aromatic nucleus. If there is just one aromatic nucleus, the nucleus bears two or three hydroxyl functional groups in a meta position with respect to each other or with respect to one another, with a remainder of the nucleus being unsubstituted. If there are plural aromatic nuclei, at least two of the nuclei each bear two or three hydroxyl functional groups in the meta position with respect to each other or with respect to one another, with two positions ortho to at least one of these hydroxyl functional groups being unsubstituted. The adhesive composition is useable to adhere a textile material to a crosslinkable rubber composition.
Hydrophobic adhesive with absorbent fibers
The disclosed hydrophobic adhesive composition comprises a hydrophobic adhesive matrix and water absorbent fibers dispersed throughout the adhesive matrix to provide water management capabilities to the adhesive composition. The disclosed adhesive composition can adhered to a variety of surfaces, such as skin, and will easily remove from the surface. Therefore, the disclosed adhesive is particularly well suitable for application to skin wherein the absorbent fiber can absorb perspiration, water, or wound fluid from skin.
Liquid binder composition for binding fibrous materials
A liquid binder composition for binding fibrous materials in the fabrication of resin-infusible preform is disclosed. The binder composition is an aqueous dispersion containing (a) one or more multifunctional epoxy resins, (b) at least one thermoplastic polymer, (c) one or more surfactants selected from anionic surfactants, nonionic surfactants, and combinations thereof, (d) water, and is essentially free of organic solvents. Also disclosed is an emulsification process for producing the liquid binder composition.
NONWOVEN JOINT TAPE HAVING LOW MOISTURE EXPANSION PROPERTIES AND METHOD FOR USING SAME
The invention is directed to a joint tape for finishing a joint between boards comprising a nonwoven substrate that does not swell substantially in the presence of water. The invention further provides a method of finishing a joint between boards comprising (i) applying a joint tape of the invention to a joint between boards by embedding the joint tape in a first coat of joint compound, (ii) applying a second coat of joint compound over the tape, wherein step (ii) is carried out before the joint tape and joint compound applied in step (i) have substantially dried, and optionally (iii) applying a third fill or finish coat of joint compound over the tape, wherein step (iii) is carried out before the joint tape and second coat have substantially dried.
Ready-to-use metal reinforcement the surface of which is provided with metal-sulfide nanoparticles
A ready-for-use metal reinforcer, for example, of the wire or cord type, made of brass-coated carbon steel, is capable of adhering directly by vulcanization to a matrix of unsaturated rubber such as natural rubber. The surface of the reinforcer is provided with nanoparticles of at least one sulfide of a metal chosen from cobalt, copper, iron, zinc and the alloys comprising at least one of these elements. Such a reinforcer can be used as the reinforcing element of a finished article made of rubber, such as a tire.
Adhesive tape with textile carrier for cable bandaging
Adhesive tape consisting of a textile carrier and of an adhesive layer applied to at least one side of the carrier, the carrier being colored with a mixture of dyes and/or pigments, characterized in that at least one of the dyes and/or one of the pigments is based on anthraquinone.
Tacky finish and textile materials and articles treated therewith
This invention relates to tacky finishes and to the textile materials and articles treated with the tacky finishes. The tacky finishes provide improved processing features for end-use articles that contain such finishes. The tacky finish may be combined with other adhesion promotion finishes in the treatment of textile materials. The textile materials and articles may be used as rubber reinforcing materials, such as automotive tire cap ply, single end tire cord, carcass reinforcement and side wall reinforcement. End-use articles that contain the treated textile materials include rubber-containing materials such as automobile tires, belts, and hoses. This invention also relates to the methods for manufacturing the treated textile materials and articles.
Moisture-curable hot-melt adhesive composition, bonded object, and garment
A moisture-curable hot-melt adhesive composition is disclosed. This moisture-curable hot-melt adhesive composition contains: a urethane prepolymer including a polymer chain, which includes a structural unit derived from a polyol and a structural unit derived from a polyisocyanate, and having two or more isocyanate groups; and a modified urethane prepolymer including a polymer chain, which includes a structural unit derived from a polyol and a structural unit derived from a polyisocyanate, and having one or more isocyanate groups modified with a castor oil monool.
