SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SEPARATING SURFACE MATERIALS FROM A FLUID USING ACOUSTIC PRESSURE SHOCK WAVES
A method of separating material, such as foam, sludge, oil or grease, at a fluid's surface, by applying acoustic pressure shock waves to the material and the fluid's surface such that acoustic pressure shock waves are propagated in liquid medium of the fluid and in gas medium above the fluid surface.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ACTIVATING AND DEWATERING SLUDGE USING ACOUSTIC PRESSURE SHOCK WAVES
A method of activating and dewatering sludge through application of acoustic pressure shock waves to wastewater.
Membrane cleaning and desalination with a membrane using acoustic pressure shock waves
Acoustic pressure shock waves are applied to a membrane in a fluid to prevent attachment of or dislodge biological or solid matter for membrane cleaning or desalination with a membrane.
Autonomous Wave Powered Desalination
A wave powered water desalinating device may receive untreated salt water, and produce desalinated fresh water. The device consists of a pressure chamber, with a piston coupled with a pitching-type wave energy converter and configured to move along the major axis of the compression chamber; an inlet one-way valve configured to permit flow into the compression chamber from the exterior; a spring in fluid communication with the piston configured to absorb and control the cyclic pressure of the system; and a reverse osmosis membrane in the interior of the compression chamber such that motion of the piston in the direction of the distal end of the chamber exerts contents of the interior of the chamber against the reverse osmosis membrane producing fresh water.
FENCE HAVING HYDROPHILIC MATERIAL
The present disclosure relates to a fence having a hydrophilic material, and according to an embodiment of the present disclosure, there is an effect in collecting oil or hazardous & noxious substances quickly and efficiently while minimizing the pressure caused by water, by forming the fence from a material that allows water to penetrate while disallowing oil to penetrate.
Additionally, there is an effect in preventing oil spill phenomena caused by damage or unbalance of the fence by reducing the water pressure applied to the fence due to water penetration even when a strong water pressure acts on the fence, for example, strong tidal currents occur and the fence is towed at high speeds to collect oil.
Sustainable auto pulsed electromagnetic irradiation system for zero discharge water treatment
A pulsed electromagnetic irradiation system for water treatment including raw water supply unit in fluid communication with a reaction vessel, a multimode cavity in which the reaction vessel is partially positioned. A magnetron generator is positioned adjacent the multimode cavity and is electromagnetically coupled with liquid within the reaction vessel. A stirring motor is positioned adjacent a bottom surface of multimode cavity and operatively coupled with the reaction vessel to stir the liquid within reaction vessel. A parabolic arm air cooled condenser is terminally connected to the reaction vessel to be in fluid communication with the reaction vessel. A gravity vacuum funnel, where the gravity vacuum funnel is in communication with a first air/water cooled condenser. The first air/water cooled condenser outputs fresh water to a fresh water storage unit.
Articulating wave energy conversion system using a compound lever-arm barge
An articulating wave energy conversion system (AWECS) formed of a forward barge hingedly-coupled to a two-part aft barge configuration for reducing the attenuation of available wave energy along the length of the AWECS. The two-part aft barge includes a buoyant section that is either rigidly-connected, or unitized with, a lever-arm barge. The lever-arm barge includes a draft that is much smaller than the drafts of the forward barge and buoyant section. In addition, the lever-arm barge includes a large waterplane area that results in large hydrostatic forces as the waves pass. One or more intermediate barges may be hingedly-coupled between the forward barge and the aft barge. Pumps can be positioned across every hinge to convert the barge articulations into mechanical energy for driving the pumps based on wave motion for a variety of functions, such as water desalination, electrical energy generation, etc.
Wave energy absorbing and converting device and power generation system
A wave energy absorption and conversion device and a power generation system includes a floating body, a guiding shaft, a damping plate and a counteracting mechanism placed in a movement range of the damping plate. The guiding shaft is connected to the bottom of the floating body and passes through the center of the damping plate. The damping plate may slide on the guiding shaft. A counterforce generated by the counteracting mechanism is opposite to a natural moving direction of the damping plate, so that the damping plate can be kept in a relatively static state under a synergistic effect of the counteracting mechanism, and thereby, colliding of damping plate with constraint structures above and below can be prevented when floating body is moving up and down following waves. The power generation system includes the wave energy absorption and conversion device and a power generation system.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DESALINATION OF WATER BY REVERSE OSMOSIS
A wave-actuated system for desalination of water by reverse osmosis (RO) having a wave energy converter (WEC) subsystem and a RO desalination subsystem is disclosed. The WEC subsystem has a float, a reaction member, and a hydraulic cylinder connected between the float and the reaction member and defining first and second variable volume chambers The RO desalination subsystem has a RO cell containing a RO membrane and a flow smoothing device (FSD). During a first stroke of the WEC subsystem: the float moves in a first direction; and seawater is supplied from the first variable volume chamber to the RO cell and to the FSD. During a second stroke of the WEC subsystem: the float moves in a second direction; seawater is supplied from a seawater intake to the first variable volume chamber; and seawater is supplied from the FSD to the RO cell.
