Methods and systems are provided for managing environmental conditions and energy usage associated with a site. One exemplary method of regulating an environment condition at a site involves a server receiving environmental measurement data from a monitoring system at the site via a network, determining an action for an electrical appliance at the site based at least in part on the environmental measurement data and one or more monitoring rules associated with the site, and providing an indication of the action to an actuator for the electrical appliance.
Heating system control method and heating system
A method of controlling a heating system includes: obtaining, from a power supply source, information specifying an output modulation period during which power consumption by a heat pump unit is to be reduced; and controlling, based on the information obtained in the obtaining, an amount of heat generated by the heat pump unit. In the controlling, the heat pump unit is caused to generate a first amount of heat per unit time in a period other than the output modulation period, and generate a second amount of heat per unit time during the output modulation period, the second amount of heat being less than the first amount of heat.

METHOD FOR REGULATING PRIMARY FREQUENCY OF POWER GRID BASED ON AIR CONDITIONING LOAD CLUSTER IN LARGE BUILDING
The present disclosure relates to a method for primary frequency regulation of an electric network based on large building air conditioning loads cluster. The method includes the use of a two layer control structure with a central coordinating layer and a local control layer. Each local controller performs a thermal model parameter identification and a local air conditioning autonomous control, and uploads local information to the central controller at the end of each communication interval t.sub.gap, the central controller broadcasts coordinating information to each local controller. Based on the coordinating information sent from the central controller, each local controller determines whether a power deviation is beyond an action dead zone at the beginning of each action period t.sub.act, if beyond, then perform a frequency regulation control action, else, perform no action and estimate operation states of all the air conditionings at the beginning of the next action period.
FAST GENERATION ADJUSTMENT ALGORITHM FOR ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
A method is proposed for real-time economic dispatch in power system operation, especially in systems that include renewable power sources that may cause heavy deviations from a generation schedule due to their uncertain outputs. According to the method an optimal generation schedule is obtained based on forecasted load data. This schedule has to be adjusted if the actual load and renewable energy source outputs unexpectedly deviate from the forecasted value. An algorithm employed in the method is capable of dictating generation adjustments which minimize total generation costs. The algorithm is a modification of the base point and participation factor method. It differs from existing methods in that a precise model of transmission losses is adopted in the algorithm to achieve higher accuracy in optimization. The proposed method also has significant advantage in execution speed so that it is suitable for real-time operation.
Mobile energy management system
A system includes a network device installed at a site, the network device including an operating condition configured to be altered by an input initiated external to the site. The system also includes at least one multi-user configurable geographical boundary capable of being established about the site to alter the operating condition in response to a location based information of a user relative to the site and the geographical boundary. A method of managing a site includes detecting a network device installed at a site, the network device having an operating condition configured to be altered by an input initiated external to the site. The method also includes enabling configuration of at least one multi-user configurable geographical boundary capable of being established about the site to alter the operating condition in response to a location based information of a user relative to the site and the geographical boundary.
Cooking system power management
A cooking environment is described for allocating power between multiple cooking systems and providing a calculated amount of energy to a cooking system. The cooking systems can each include a receptacle and a heating/cooling element to heat a product within the receptacle. A controller can receive requests for power from the cooking systems. Based on the requests for power, the controller allocates an amount of time within a time period in which the heating/cooling elements of each cooking system receive electrical energy. The controller can also allocate specific intervals within the time period in which the heating/cooling elements receive electrical energy.
A METHOD FOR OPERATING AT LEAST ONE DISTRIBUTED ENERGY RESOURCE COMPRISING A REFRIGERATION SYSTEM
The invention relates to a method of operating at least one distributed energy resource comprising a refrigeration system (1) with a number of cooling entities, wherein a power consumption information is communicated to a smart-grid setup (SG). According to the invention the method comprises the steps of: requesting (S0) a power consumption information from the refrigeration system; transmitting (S1) the power consumption information from the refrigeration system (1), wherein a total amount of power consumption (Pmin, Pmax) of the refrigeration system (1) is provided; wherein: a cooling capacity (dQ/dt_i) of at least one cooling entity is determined wherein an entity operation condition (CE) of the cooling entity (E1, E2) is taken into account (D1); a power consumption (W_i) of at least one cooling entity (E1, E2) is determined from the cooling capacity (dQ/dt_i) wherein a performance estimation (COP) of a refrigeration cycle for the cooling entity (E1, E2) is taken into account (D2); providing (D3) the total amount of power consumption (Pmin, Pmax) as a sum of power consumptions (W_i) of at least the one cooling entity of the number of cooling entities (E1, E2), in particular as a sum of relevant power consumptions of the number of cooling entities (E1, E2); receiving (S2) at the refrigeration system (1) a power reference (Wref) from the smart-grid setup (SG). ENERGY-RELATED INFORMATION PRESENTATION SYSTEM
A system and approach for diagnostic visualizations of, for example, building control systems data. A focus may be on a similarity metric for comparing operations among sites relative to energy consumption. Normalizing factors may be used across sites with varying equipment consumption levels to be compared automatically. There may also be a high level overview of an enterprise of sites. For instance, consumption totals of the sites may be normalized by site size and length of time of a billing period to identify such things as outlier sites. One may use a main view of geographic distribution dynamically linked to subviews showing distribution by size, by aggregated climate, and so on. With these views, one may quickly drill through the enterprise and identify sites of interest for further investigation. A key metric may be intensity which invokes viewing virtually all sites by normalized consumption for a unit amount of time.
