Systems and methods for efficient data searching, storage and reduction
A computer-implemented method, according to one embodiment includes, for each repository data chunk in repository data that comprises a plurality of the repository data chunks, generating a corresponding set of repository distinguishing characteristics (RDCs). Each set of RDCs is generated by: applying a hash function to the respective input data chunk or repository data chunk to generate a plurality of hashes, each hash comprising a hash value and a hash position within the data chunk, applying a first function to the plurality of generated hashes to identify a first subset of hashes distributed across the data chunk, applying a second function to the hash positions of the hashes of the first subset to identify a second subset of the plurality of generated hashes, and defining the second subset of hashes as the set of RDCs.
Dynamic language translation of web site content
A method, system and computer program product for providing translated web content is disclosed. The method includes receiving a request from a user on a web site, the web site having a first web content in a first language, wherein the request calls for a second web content in a second language. The method further includes dividing the first web content into a plurality of translatable components and generating a unique identifier for each translatable component. The method further includes identifying a plurality of translated components of the second web content using the unique identifier of each of the plurality of translatable components of the first web content and putting the plurality of translated components of the second web content to preserve a format that corresponds to the first web content. The method further includes providing the second web content in response to the request that was received.
Accessing digital media
Method and apparatus for accessing media across networks. The present invention generally allows for media to be provided across a network. A client requests media information from a server so the client can create a local representation of the server's database. The client is then able to manage the media information locally. When the client selects the desired media, it requests the selection from across the network. The server then delivers the selected media.
Managing content storage, selection, and transfer for user access
Exemplary embodiments relate to methods, systems, and storage mediums for managing content storage and selection activities. The method includes aggregating content from content providers and presenting the content to a content device. The method also includes monitoring consumption of storage space with respect to storage capacity in the content device, relocating content contained in the storage space of the content device when a predetermined condition is met, and providing access to relocated content. The relocation is operable for freeing up the storage space of the content device.
Viral Engine for Network Deployment
A private network system operates over a public network to provide an asymmetric service to members with information from other members and non-members. The system includes central servers and databases connected via the public network to client systems of public network users. The users may be members who communicate with a private protocol or non-members who communicate with the public protocol. A process for the private service includes communication of information between users via the private service servers. The private service server implements the private service, which includes a viral engine for network deployment. Features of the viral engine include genetic algorithms, data mining, personalization, frictionless service setup, user maximization, and member-controlled privacy. A sample setup process and contact update wizard that include several viral engine features are described.
NETWORK PERSONAL DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDER SYSTEM
The Shared Internet Storage Resource provides Internet-based file storage, retrieval, access, control, and manipulation for a user. Additionally, an easy-to-use user interface is provided both for a browser or stand-alone application. The entire method provides means by which users can establish, use, and maintain files on the Internet in a manner remote from their local computers yet in a manner that is similar to the file manipulation used on their local computers. A high capacity or other storage system is attached to the Internet via an optional internal network that also serves to generate and direct metadata regarding the stored files. A web server using a CGI, Java-based, or other interface transmits and retrieves TCP/IP packets or other Internet information through a load balancer/firewall by using XML to wrap the data packets. File instructions may be transmitted over the Internet to the Shared Resource System. The user's account may be password protected so that only the user may access his or her files. On the user's side, a stand-alone client application or JavaScript object interpreted through a browser provide two means by which the XML or other markup language data stream may be received and put to use by the user. Internet-to-Internet file transfers may be effected by directly downloading to the user's account space.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR STORAGE MODELING AND COSTING
The present invention provides systems and methods for data storage. A hierarchical storage management architecture is presented to facilitate data management. The disclosed system provides methods for evaluating the state of stored data relative to enterprise needs by using weighted parameters that may be user defined. Also disclosed are systems and methods evaluating costing and risk management associated with stored data.
AUTOMATION TOOL FOR WEB SITE CONTENT LANGUAGE TRANSLATION
A system, method and computer readable medium for providing translated web content is disclosed. The method on an information processing system includes retrieving a first content in a first language and parsing the first content into a plurality of translatable components. The method further includes generating a unique identifier for each of the plurality of translatable components of the first content and queuing the plurality of translatable components and corresponding unique identifiers for translation into a second language. The method further includes, for each of the plurality of translatable components, storing a translated component and an associated unique identifier corresponding to the translatable component, thereby storing a plurality of translated components and corresponding unique identifiers.
