Systems and methods for meeting wheel torque demand in a hybrid vehicle
Systems and methods are shown for meeting wheel torque demand in a hybrid vehicle with an engine, a dual clutch transmission coupled to a driveline of the vehicle downstream of the engine, and an electric machine coupled to the driveline downstream of the dual clutch transmission. In one example, a method includes transferring transmission input torque through a clutch of the dual clutch transmission controlled to a first capacity, and, in response to a desired transmission input torque exceeding the capacity, increasing torque output of the electric machine coupled downstream of the dual clutch transmission to assist in meeting a wheel torque demand. In this way, a driver-requested increase in acceleration may be met under conditions where transmission input torque is limited by clutch capacity.
Powertrain for a vehicle
A powertrain (12) for a vehicle (10) is disclosed. The powertrain (12) comprises: a combustion engine (24), (ii) a drivetrain (14) having a torque converter (32) with a first state of operation in which the input (34) of the torque converter (32) is locked to the output (36) of the torque converter (32) and a second state of operation in which the input (34) of the torque converter (32) is not locked to the output (36) of the torque converter (32) for allowing slippage. The drivetrain also has a final drive (44) for supplying torque to the drive wheel (16) from the torque converter (32), wherein the final drive (44) is coupled to the torque converter (32) at a fixed gear ratio. The powertrain (12) further comprises: (iii) a first electric motor (28) configured to supply torque to the drivetrain (14) on the output-side of the torque converter (32).
Control device for vehicle
Provided is a control device for a vehicle. A control device for a vehicle includes a vehicle that includes an engine and a main motor, and a transmission equipped with first and second input shafts which are respectively connected to the engine via first and second clutches, an output shaft through which power is output to drive wheels, first and second transmission mechanisms which respectively includes a plurality of transmission gears selectively joined to the first and second input shaft respectively, and an ECU. When the main motor is driven and when the engine is stopped, the ECU determines that the vehicle travels using power of the engine using the transmission gears of one of transmission mechanisms in a case where defective engagement release occurs such that a transmission gear of the other transmission mechanism is not disengaged.
Operating methods and system for a driveline disconnect clutch
Systems and methods for operating a driveline of a hybrid vehicle are presented. In one example, the systems and methods determine a driveline disconnect boost time during vehicle operating conditions when it may be less noticeable. The driveline disconnect boost time may then be used to close a driveline disconnect clutch in a way that may reduce torque disturbances through the driveline.
Expanding electric vehicle mode during downhill grade conditions
System and methods are provided for improving fuel economy of a hybrid vehicle. A hybrid vehicle may include an EV driving mode, where the motor alone powers the hybrid vehicle. However, use of such a driving mode may be limited to conditions involving low drive force and power requests due to motor and battery power specifications. In some circumstances, the conditions during which the motor can be used to power the hybrid vehicle can be expanded. Such conditions may include instances where the driver only seeks light accelerations for a short period of time. Such an expanded EV mode may be triggered when the hybrid vehicle is travelling a downhill grade.
Method for operating a drive device for a motor vehicle and corresponding drive device
A method for operating a drive device for a motor vehicle. The drive device has an internal combustion engine, an output shaft, and a clutch connected between the internal combustion engine and the output shaft. In a coasting operating mode, an idling speed control of the internal combustion engine to an idling speed is carried out and the clutch is opened, and, in an overrun operating mode, the clutch is closed. When shifting from the coasting operating mode to the overrun operating mode, while, at the same time, carrying out the idling speed control of the internal combustion engine to the idling speed, the clutch is closed, so that an entrainment of the internal combustion engine occurs.
Transmission device for hybrid vehicle
A transmission device for a hybrid vehicle including: a plurality of shift dog clutches each arranged to selectively engage the movable side gear of one of the shift gear rows with the other of the main shaft and the counter shaft; a main clutch disposed between the internal combustion engine and the main shaft; a first motor gear disposed to be raced with respect to a motor output shaft connected to the motor, and constantly interlocked with the main shaft; a second motor gear disposed to be raced with respect to the motor output shaft, and constantly interlocked with the counter shaft; a motor dog clutch arranged to selectively engage one of the first and second motor gears with the motor output shaft; and a controller configured to control actuations of the shift dog clutch, the main clutch, and the motor dog clutch.
Control system for vehicle
A control system for a vehicle, the control system includes a selectable one-way clutch, a motor, and an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to (i) execute rotation control to control the motor such that negative differential rotation changes into positive differential rotation when the selectable one-way clutch is switched from a disengaged state to an engaged state while differential rotation of the selectable one-way clutch is negative and (ii) initiate engagement control by a switching mechanism such that a projecting operation of the selectable one-way clutch is completed while the differential rotation is negative.
System and method of controlling driving of vehicle when battery charging is limited
A method of controlling driving of a vehicle when battery charging is limited is provided. The method includes calculating a target wheel torque from a speed of the vehicle, calculating a target motor torque from a differential gear device of the vehicle, and calculating a discharge power of a hybrid starter generator when the target motor torque and a motor charging limitation torque are compared with each other and the target motor torque is greater than the motor charging limitation torque. A fuel injection of the vehicle is blocked and an engine clutch is disengaged when the discharge power of the hybrid starter generator and a discharging limitation power of the hybrid starter generator are compared with each other and the discharge power of the hybrid starter generator is less than the discharging limitation power of the hybrid starter generator. Additionally, an engine reference speed of the vehicle is determined.
Method for operating a drive device for a motor vehicle and corresponding drive device
A method for operating a drive device for a motor vehicle, which has an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. A drive shaft of the internal combustion engine can be coupled to a motor shaft of the electric motor by a shift clutch. The shift clutch is adjusted to a desired clutch torque over a dragging period for startup of the internal combustion engine. Prior to the startup, a quantity of heat that is expected to accrue in the shift clutch during the startup is predicted and, when the predicted quantity of heat exceeds a limit value, at least one operating parameter of the drive device that influences the startup is chosen in such a way that the quantity of heat expected to accrue is reduced.
