The present invention relates to five-layered pigments based on multi-coated platelet-shaped substrates which comprise a layer sequence comprising (A) a layer of SnO.sub.2 having a layer thickness of 0.1-50 nm, (B) a high-refractive-index coating consisting of TiO.sub.2 in the rutile modification having a layer thickness of 10-800 nm, (C) a colorless coating having a refractive index n1.8 having a layer thickness of 20-800 nm, (D) a high-refractive-index coating consisting of SnO.sub.2 having a layer thickness of 0.1-50 nm, (E) a layer of TiO.sub.2 in the rutile modification having a layer thickness of 10-800 nm,
and optionally (F) an outer protective layer,
and to the use thereof in paints, coatings, powder coatings, printing inks, security printing inks, plastics, ceramic materials, glasses, as dopants for the laser marking of papers and plastics, in cosmetic formulations and for the preparation of pigment preparations and dry preparations.

Compositions and methods for teeth whitening

Disclosed herein are teeth whitening compositions generally including an oxidizing agent, and an activating agent that has an emission wavelength between about 400 nm and about 570 nm. Methods of employing these compositions to whiten teeth, methods of making these compositions and kits that include some or part of the composition ingredients, are also described.

Hydrated lamellar phases or liposomes which contain a fatty monoamine or a cationic polymer which promotes intracellular penetration, and a cosmetic or pharmaceutical composition containing same, as well as a method of screening such a substance

The invention relates to novel hydrated lamellar phases or liposomes which contain either polyethylenimine, or a substance which stimulates intracellular penetration selected from the group consisting of: i) a fatty monoamine of carbon-containing chain length of between C10 and C18; ii) a cationic polymer,
optionally at least one fluorescent compound which is essentially inert with respect to the intracellular penetration, which enables this penetration to be visualised. These liposomes are very useful in cosmetics or in pharmacy for stimulating the intracellular penetration of a substance or active principle.

UV-photoprotective, topically applicable cosmetic/dermatological compositions contain: (a) at least one dibenzoylmethane compound, (b) at least one 1,3,5-triazine compound that is photosensitive in the presence of a dibenzoylmethane compound, and (c) at least one siliceous s-triazine compound substituted with two aminobenzoate or aminobenzamide groups, or a tautomeric form thereof, the 1,3,5-triazine compounds being improvedly photostable in such compositions.

ENCAPSULATES

The present application relates processes that can be used to produce encapsulated benefit agents comprising a core and a shell that encapsulates said core, encapsulated benefit agents produced by such process and products comprising such encapsulated benefit agents as well as methods of making and using such products. Such process can be used to produce particles that offer the desired protection and release benefits when used in a varity of products.

THERMOSETTING BIOPHOTONIC COMPOSITIONS AND USES THEREOF

The present disclosure provides thermosetting biophotonic compositions and methods useful in phototherapy. In particular, the thermosetting biophotonic compositions of the present disclosure include block copolymer and at least one chromophore solubilized in the block copolymer. The thermosetting biophotonic compositions and the methods of the present disclosure are useful for promoting wound healing and skin rejuvenation, as well as treating acne and various other skin disorders.

DETECTION AND TREATMENT OF CARIES AND MICROCAVITIES WITH NANOPARTICLES

Components, for example, nanoparticles for detecting and/or treating one or more active carious lesions or microcavities in teeth of a subject are provided. The component or nanoparticle may comprise a biocompatible and biodegradable polymer (e.g., a starch) bearing at least one cationic region and/or having a net positive charge and thereby capable of associating with one or more active and/or early carious lesions on a tooth in an oral cavity of a subject. The components or nanoparticles are optionally water soluble or dispersible. The components or nanoparticle also comprises an imaging agent (e.g., a fluorophore or dye) bonded to the biocompatible and biodegradable polymer. The component or nanoparticle is thus capable of indicating the presence of one or more active carious lesions when the component or nanoparticle is associated therewith. Oral care compositions comprising such compounds/nanoparticles and methods of making and using the same are also provided.
