At a supporting member, an angle between an imaginary extension plane of an outer surface of a first partition wall and an imaginary extension plane of an upper surface of a pedal arm is one of an obtuse angle and a right angle. An angle between an imaginary extension plane of an outer surface of a third partition wall and an imaginary extension plane of a lower surface of the pedal arm is one of an obtuse angle and a right angle.

A pedal assembly having a hysteresis creating configuration in communication with a sensor of a pedal assembly. The assembly includes a housing and a pedal arm wherein the pedal arm is pivotally mounted by bushings to the housing. A connector and sensor assembly is provided connected through the pivot point (hub) where the pedal arm connects to the housing of the pedal assembly. A spring connects to a spring carrier wherein the spring is depressed upon depression of the pedal arm of the pedal assembly. As the spring applies a force to the spring carrier, the spring carrier slides down an inclined wall and applies a force to a friction shoe. The friction shoe is in contact with the generally circular hub of the pedal arm thus providing a hysteresis effect as the friction shoe contacts the hub of the pedal arm.

An improved motor vehicle speed and braking control system configured to maximize performance and response times for braking to a driver's instinctual physiological and psychological response to a perceived need to decelerate. The system provides a throttle pedal and brake pedal system configured to cause braking and an immediate change of engine power to idle once a user touches or causes activation of safety switches by a proximity or contact with them directly or with the brake pedal or a sliding of the throttle pedal depending on the configuration. Accidental acceleration during any attempt to brake is thereby eliminated by the system.

An active vibratory pedal assembly including a pedal and means integrated with the pedal for causing the vibration of the pedal which, in one embodiment, comprises a vibration generation assembly located and mounted to the underside of the pedal plate which includes an electric motor and an eccentric coupled to and rotatable relative to the motor and adapted to generate a force that causes the vibration of the pedal plate for providing an operator with a sensory signal of a vehicular condition or event such as, for example, a vehicle's excessive speed.

An accelerator pedal apparatus with a variable pedal effect may include an intermediate bush installed to be moved along an interior space of a pedal housing, a pair of first conductors fixedly installed on one surface of the intermediate bush and a spring plate facing the one surface of the intermediate bush, respectively, a first coil spring installed such that opposite ends of the first coil spring are supported by the first conductors and a third conductor is integrally coupled substantially over an entire surface of the first coil spring, a pair of second conductors fixedly installed on the other surface of the intermediate bush and an end of the interior space of the pedal housing facing the other surface of the intermediate bush, a second coil spring installed such that opposite ends of the second coil spring are supported by the second conductors and a fourth conductor is integrally coupled substantially over an entire surface of the second coil spring, and a controller for controlling supply of a current to the first conductors, a current to the second conductors, directions of the currents, and intensities of the currents.
