SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MEASURING ELECTRICAL CHARACTERISTIC OF MEDICAL FLUIDS

A device for measuring conductivity of a fluid. The device including a chamber and at least two electrodes. The chamber includes an inlet, an outlet, an upper surface, and a lower surface that runs separate from the upper surface. The fluid enters the chamber through the inlet and flows out of the chamber through the outlet. Moving along a length of the chamber from the inlet to the outlet or from the outlet to the inlet, a distance between the upper surface and the lower surface changes in at least one dimension of the chamber. The two electrodes are configured to measure electrical voltage in the fluid that enters the chamber through the inlet and flows out of the chamber through the outlet.

A manifold assembly for a peritoneal dialysis apparatus, comprises: a casing delimiting internally a first compartment and a second compartment; a yielding pump tube having a first end connected or connectable to the first compartment and a second end connected or connectable to the second compartment. The yielding pump tubes extends outside the casing to be coupled to a peristaltic pump of a cycler of a peritoneal dialysis apparatus. The second compartment delimits expansion chambers configured to attenuate pressure pulsations from the peristaltic pump.

A method for calibrating a peristaltic pump in a medical apparatus comprises: rotating the peristaltic pump of a predetermined rotation to pump a liquid from a fluid source from a first compartment into a second compartment of a manifold assembly, raising a level of the liquid in the second compartment and compressing air in an air buffer volume of the manifold assembly; measuring a pressure of air in the air buffer volume; calculating, from the measured pressure, a variation of liquid volume in the second compartment due to the rotation of the peristaltic pump; calculating, from the variation of liquid volume and the predetermined rotation, a stroke liquid volume of the peristaltic pump.

Medicament preparation and treatment devices, methods, and systems

A medicament preparation system, according to an embodiment, includes a water purification module and a medicament proportioning module. The system is configured to allow convenient and safe use in a home environment or a critical care environment as well as others affording safety, reliability, and a compact form factor.

Kink and Compression Tolerant Medical Tubing
20190344045 · 2019-11-14 ·

Medical fluid tubing described herein is configured to be advantageously tolerant of kinking and/or crushing. That is, the tubing is configured such that even if the tubing is kinked or fully compressed at least some portion of the lumen defined by the tubing will remain open, and some fluid will continue to flow through the tubing. Such kink and compression tolerant medical tubing can be advantageously used in association with medical fluid pumping systems (e.g., peritoneal dialysis systems and the like). In some examples, the tubing described herein is used in conjunction with, or as a part of, a medical fluid cassette that interfaces with such medical fluid pumping systems.

Pressure manifold system for dialysis

A medical fluid pneumatic manifold system includes a first plate including a plurality of apertures, a second plate attached to the first plate so as to form a plurality of pneumatic flowpaths sealed between the first plate and the second plate, a plurality of tubing connections and a plurality of pneumatic tubes connected to the plurality of tubing connections, the plurality of tubing connections placing the plurality of pneumatic tubes in pneumatic communication with the plurality of pneumatic flowpaths via the plurality of apertures of the first plate, and a pneumatic reservoir in pneumatic communication with the plurality of pneumatic flowpaths, the pneumatic reservoir configured to provide pneumatic pressure to the plurality of pneumatic tubes.

Fluid Preparation and Treatment Devices Methods and Systems

Methods, device, and systems for preparing peritoneal dialysis fluid and/or administering a peritoneal dialysis treatment are disclosed. In embodiments, peritoneal dialysis fluid is prepared at a point of use automatically using a daily sterile disposable fluid circuit and one or more long-term concentrate containers that are changed only after multiple days (e.g. weekly). The daily disposable may have concentrate containers that are initially empty and are filled from the long-term concentrate containers once per day at the beginning of a treatment.

A normal workflow including a plurality of steps may be defined by exemplary systems and methods for use in preparing a treatment, performing a treatment, and performing post-treatment processes. A user may be guided by one or more workflow affordances to indicate where and how to use a graphical user interface to follow the normal workflow. When a user deviates from the normal workflow, one or more deviation workflow affordances may be displayed on the graphical user interface to guide a user back to the normal workflow.

Dialysis machine

A disposable cartridge for use in a hemodialysis machine has a blood flow path for carrying a volume of blood to be treated in a dialyser and a dialysate flow path, isolated from the blood flow path, for delivering a flow of dialysate solution through the dialyser. The cartridge is received in an engine section of the machine. The engine section has first and second platens which close when the cartridge is inserted to retain the cartridge. Actuators and sensors arranged on the second platen control operation of the cartridge.
