09897116 · 2018-02-20 · ·

A method of detecting failure of a two-stage servo-valve in which the power-controlling movable member is connected to the rotor of a torque motor of a pilot stage by mechanical feedback. A malfunction signal is generated in response to detecting that the rotor of the torque motor has engaged a stop. The invention also provides a servo-valve for implementing such a method.

In a valve actuating system having an actuating drive which has a drive housing and an output unit which is movably mounted in the drive housing for generating a stroke of a spindle of a valve for opening or closing a through-flow opening of the valve, wherein the output unit has a force pickup portion to which the spindle is coupleable or coupled and a fastening portion arranged opposite the force pickup portion, wherein the actuating drive furthermore possesses a holder, which is separate from the output unit, has a holder longitudinal-axis and has a fastening device by way of which it is fastened to the fastening portion of the output unit and a support device for supporting at least one position information element on the holder, and wherein the valve actuating system has a plurality of mutually different types of position information elements supported on the holder by way of the support device.

Visual ram position indicator apparatuses and methods

Apparatuses for providing a visual indication outside a blowout preventer (BOP) relative to a position of ram blocks inside the BOP, and methods of adding such apparatuses to existing blowout preventers are provided. An apparatus has an indicator rod, a detectable portion and a sealing assembly. The indicator rod has an end extending outside an end cap of the BOP, and is configured to engage with a tail rod of a ram block of the BOP, and to switch between a first position when the BOP is in a close state, and a second position when the BOP is in an open state. The detectable portion is located outside the end cap and is configured to provide a visual indication relative to a current position of the indicator rod. The sealing assembly is configured to seal a space inside the end cap from an environment in which the BOP operates.

Hopper tee with wear port
09863570 · 2018-01-09 · ·

A hopper tee for redirecting the flow of material from one passage to another passage includes a radius providing a transition between the passages. A port at the exterior of the radius includes an upwardly-open cavity having a bottom wall disposed within the radius and forming a sacrificial wall extending between the bottom wall and the inner surface of the radius. The cavity provides an indication that material moving through the tee has worn the wall of the radius by the creation of a passage between the interior of the tee and the cavity and expelling material through the passage to the exterior of the tee. A plug may be secured within the cavity allowing a user to continue to use the tee until the tee is rotated or replaced. The radius may include a thickened wall for providing added structural support and sacrificial material.

Final position locking feature of multi-turn rotational device having an axially translating wheel or a clocked lock passage gear

A valve, including a diaphragm valve, is provided featuring a cover in combination with at least one inner housing component. The cover may be configured with a biased-pin mounted therein. The at least one inner housing component may be configured with a hole or slot formed at a predetermined location where the biased-pin is at when the valve is calibrated to be at a final position. The cover may be configured to rotate and cause an axial translation between the cover and the at least one inner housing component so that the biased-pin engages the hole or slot when the valve is at the final position so as to stop any further axial and rotational movement.

Fine control gas valve

A fine control gas valve is disclosed. The valve has a tee having first and second tee runs co-axially aligned on a longitudinal axis, and a tee branch oriented non-parallel to the longitudinal axis. A rotatable hand operator member cooperates with a threaded member and a sleeve to enable a valve to be adjustably positioned within the tee. Indicia on the valve may be used to help a user understand how a fluid flow through the valve will be affected by adjustments made by the rotatable hand operator member.

Closure Member Position Indicator System for Use in A Blowout Preventer
20170175927 · 2017-06-22 ·

A system and method for detecting a position of a blowout preventer's closure members makes use of an indicator rod connected to a piston of the operator system and an electronic position sensor located entirely outside of a pressurized chamber of the operator system and arranged to detect a linear movement of the indicator rod.

Valve with proof of closure

A valve with proof of closure includes a valve body with a first port and a second port separated by a valve member that is biased toward a closed position. A piston is mounted within a pressure chamber with a pressure fluid port for connecting to a source of pressurized fluid. Piston is biased toward a retracted position and is moved to an extended position in response to pressurized fluid entering through pressurized fluid port. A control member is attached to valve member and is engaged by piston as it is moved a first distance from retracted position toward extended position. A valve position indicator with a closed state and as open state is biased toward the closed state and is actuated by piston as piston moves a second distance from retracted position toward extended position to move valve position indicator from closed state toward open state.

Continuous magnetic motion position indicator

A continuous magnetic motion position indicator detects the position of a clapper valve. The clapper valve comprises a valve body and, disposed within the valve body, a clapper and a valve stem. The continuous magnetic motion position indicator comprises: (a) a magnetic joint assembly comprising a first set of magnets disposed inside the valve body and a second set of magnets located outside the valve body that operatively interface with the first set of magnets, and (b) a remote position transmitter and/or a local visual indicator. In operation, the magnetic joint assembly transmits rotary movement of the clapper from the valve stem to the remote position transmitter and/or local visual indicator, without the presence of a dynamic seal interface.
