Blood purification apparatus and priming method for the same
The present teachings provide a blood purification apparatus and a priming method, which can reduce or dispense with dedicated components used for automated priming and which can reduce manufacturing costs of a blood circuit while achieving the automated priming. The present teachings further provide a blood purification apparatus including a liquid level adjustment device that can optionally introduce or discharge air into or from an upper portion of a venous air trap chamber, a control device that can adjust a liquid level formed inside the venous air trap chamber to have the height at any desired position by operating the liquid level adjustment device, and a priming solution supplying line that can supply a priming solution to an arterial blood circuit and a venous blood circuit. As taught herein, during priming, the control device can fill the arterial blood circuit and the venous blood circuit with priming solution supplied from the priming solution supplying line by operating the liquid level adjustment device at any desired timing.
BLOOD CIRCUIT ASSEMBLY FOR A HEMODIALYSIS SYSTEM
A blood circuit assembly for a dialysis unit may include an organizing tray, a pair of pneumatic pumps mounted to the organizing tray for circulating blood received from a patient through a circuit including a dialyzer unit and returned to the patient, an air trap mounted to the organizing tray arranged to remove air from blood circulating in the circuit, a pair of dialyzer connections arranged to connect to the inlet and outlet of a dialyzer unit, and a pair of blood line connectors, one inlet blood line connector for receiving blood from the patient and providing blood to the pneumatic pumps and the other outlet blood line connector for returning blood to the patient.
HEMODIALYSIS SYSTEM
A drain cassette for a dialysis unit has a fluid channel between venous and arterial connection ports, and a valve may controllably open and close fluid communication between a drain outlet port and the venous connection port or the arterial connection port. A blood circuit assembly and drain cassette may be removable from the dialysis unit, e.g., by hand and without the use of tools. A blood circuit assembly may include a single, unitary member that defines portions of a pair of blood pumps, control valves, channels to accurately position flexible tubing for an occluder, an air trap support, and/or other portions of the assembly. A blood circuit assembly engagement device may assist with retaining a blood circuit assembly on the dialysis unit, and/or with removal of the assembly. An actuator may operate a retainer element and an ejector element that interact with the assembly.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR WATER FILTRATION USING RECYCLED MEDICAL FILTERS
A water filtration system uses previously used medical filters, such as dialysis filters, for water purification. After medical use the filters are cleaned and sterilized and mounted singly or in groups so as to receive input water under pressure. The system produces sterile filtered water.
Dialysis service box
A dialysis service box for centralized control and plumbing arrangement of a dialysis machine is disclosed. The dialysis service box includes a plumbing arrangement having a supply inlet for supplying a fluid to the dialysis machine, a backflow preventer for preventing retrograde flow through the plumbing arrangement, a trap primer for maintaining a trap seal designed to prevent waste gases from flowing into the dialysis service box and a waste connection for allowing waste from the dialysis machine to exit. The dialysis service box can be universally installed to operate, control and adjust any dialysis machine that requires supply connection, waste connection, backflow preventer and trap primer, or any combination of the foregoing.

The dialysis service box can be universally installed to operate, control and adjust any dialysis machine that requires supply connection, waste connection, backflow preventer and trap primer, or any combination of the foregoing.
System and method for peritoneal dialysis exchanges having reusable fill and drain containers
A peritoneal dialysis system includes (i) a reusable fill container; (ii) a reusable drain container; and (iii) a reusable continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) set configured and arranged to be fluidly connected to at least one of the reusable fill container or the reusable drain container.
Hybrid blood and peritoneal dialysis treatment systems and methods
A method for a hybrid blood and peritoneal dialysis (PD) machine comprising: (i) determining whether a previous treatment left a last fill of dialysate in a patient's peritoneum; (ii) if a next treatment is a PD treatment, and if the previous treatment did not leave the last fill of dialysate, causing a PD treatment in which a first cycle is a fill cycle to be initiated; (iii) if the next treatment is a PD treatment, and if the previous treatment did leave the last fill of dialysate, causing a PD treatment in which a first cycle is a last fill drain cycle to be initiated; and (iv) if the next treatment is a blood treatment and if the previous treatment did leave the last fill of dialysate, causing a blood treatment including a last fill drain cycle to be initiated.
MEDICAL APPARATUS FOR THE PREPARATION OF MEDICAL FLUID
A medical apparatus for the preparation of medical fluid is disclosed, comprising a support structure, a movable member, biasing means, and locking means. The movable member is mounted to the support structure and the biasing means are configured to operate in at least one of a repulsion mode and an attraction mode In the repulsion mode, the biasing means exert on the movable member a biasing force directing the movable member away from its retracted configuration, and in the attraction mode, the biasing means exert on the movable member a biasing force directing the movable member towards its retracted configuration. A blood treatment apparatus comprising the medical apparatus for the preparation of fluid, a method of setting up the medical apparatus, and a method for use of the apparatus are also disclosed.
WEIGHT CONTROLLED AND/OR SORBENT HYBRID BLOOD AND PERITONEAL DIALYSIS TREATMENT SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A hybrid hemodialysis (HD)/peritoneal dialysis (PD) system includes: a reservoir; a weigh scale operably coupled with the reservoir; and at least one controller programmed to run (i) an HD treatment in which blood is pumped to a blood compartment of a dialyzer, fresh HD dialysis fluid is pumped to a dialysis fluid compartment of the dialyzer, and used HD dialysis fluid is pumped from the dialysis fluid compartment of the dialyzer to the reservoir, and at a different time (ii) a PD treatment in which fresh PD dialysis fluid is pumped to a patient and used PD dialysis fluid is pumped from the patient to the reservoir.
