Systems and methods of generating peritoneal dialysate and using the peritoneal dialysate with an integrated cycler are provided. The systems and methods use a water purification module, a sterilization module and concentrates to prepare peritoneal dialysate from source water and infuse the prepared peritoneal dialysate into a patient with an integrated cycler. Optional dialysate storage containers are provided for storage of the peritoneal dialysate prior to use.

A machine is provided with a slot to releasably receive and retain a cartridge in which dialysis is effected. The machine is configured for supplying to the cartridge, at a controlled temperature and rate, sterile water for use in haemodialysis and is operable to maintain, in a sterile condition, residual water contained therein after completion of a haemodialysis treatment.

A peritoneal dialysis system includes (i) a fill container, and (ii) an energizing unit that removably accepts the fill container, the energizing unit including a sterilization source so configured and arranged relative to the fill container when accepted by the energizing unit to place fluid within the fill container in a physiologically safe condition for delivery to the peritoneal cavity of a patient.

Hemodialysis system

A drain cassette for a dialysis unit has a fluid channel between venous and arterial connection ports, and a valve may controllably open and close fluid communication between a drain outlet port and the venous connection port or the arterial connection port. A blood circuit assembly and drain cassette may be removable from the dialysis unit, e.g., by hand and without the use of tools. A blood circuit assembly may include a single, unitary member that defines portions of a pair of blood pumps, control valves, channels to accurately position flexible tubing for an occluder, an air trap support, and/or other portions of the assembly. A blood circuit assembly engagement device may assist with retaining a blood circuit assembly on the dialysis unit, and/or with removal of the assembly. An actuator may operate a retainer element and an ejector element that interact with the assembly.

Dialysis service box

A dialysis service box for centralized control and plumbing arrangement of a dialysis machine is disclosed. The dialysis service box includes a plumbing arrangement with a warm water inlet and a cold water inlet in fluid flow communication with a temperature mixing component. The thermostatic mixing component mixes the cold water and the warm water to produce mixed water maintained at a predetermined temperature between the temperature of the cold water and the temperature of the warm water. The dialysis service box can be universally installed to operate, control and adjust any dialysis machine that requires supply connection, waste connection, backflow preventer, thermostatic mixing component, a trap primer, or any combination of the foregoing.

Dialysis machines with integral salt solution chambers and related methods

A hemodialysis machine includes a main body and a door connected to the main body. The door and the main body cooperate to define a non-removable chamber. The door is openable relative to the main body of the hemodialysis machine to allow a salt to be placed into the non-removable chamber when the door is in an open position. The main body further includes a fluid inlet, a fluid outlet, and a pumping mechanism. The fluid inlet and the fluid outlet are in fluid communication with the non-removable chamber. The pumping mechanism is configured to deliver a fluid from a fluid source to the non-removable chamber through the fluid inlet to mix with salt within the non-removable chamber to form a salt solution that exits the non-removable chamber through the fluid outlet.

PERITONEAL DIALYSIS SYSTEM AND METHOD HAVING INTRAPERITONEAL PRESSURE SENSING

A peritoneal dialysis (“PD”) system includes a housing; a dialysis fluid pump housed by the housing; a dual lumen patient line extending from the housing; a filter set including a final stage filter located along a first line, and which includes a second line in parallel with the first line, the first line in fluid communication with a first lumen of the dual lumen patient line, and the second line in fluid communication with a second lumen of the dual lumen patient line; a pressure sensor located within the housing and positioned so as to sense a static or substantially static PD fluid pressure in the second lumen while fresh PD fluid is pumped through the first lumen and the final stage filter; and a control unit configured to use the sensed static or substantially static pressure in a pressure control routine for the dialysis fluid pump.

METHOD OF HEAT SANITIZATION OF A HAEMODIALYSIS WATER CIRCUIT USING A CALCULATED DOSE

A method of sanitizing liquid for use in a. medical device, the method comprising the steps of providing a medical device defining a water circuit with a volume of liquid, sensing the temperature of the volume of liquid with a sensor, heating the volume of liquid from an initial temperature to exceed a threshold temperature, maintaining the volume of liquid above the threshold temperature, determining a time-temperature value for the volume of liquid periodically once the threshold temperature has been exceeded, calculating a. cumulative time-temperature value and providing an output signal once the cumulative time-temperature value has reached a level indicative of a sanitizing dose. A medical device and a liquid sanitizer are also disclosed.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DISINFECTION OF A TEMPERATURE CONTROL DEVICE FOR HUMAN BODY TEMPERATURE CONTROL DURING EXTRACORPOREAL CIRCULATION

The present application relates to a method for disinfection of a temperature control device for human body temperature control during extracorporeal circulation which temperature control is conducted by use of a heat exchanger and a temperature control liquid circulating through the heat exchanger and the temperature control device. According to the present application, the temperature control device is connected to a temperature control liquid supply and, during operation of the temperature control device for human body temperature control, a disinfectant is selectively added to the temperature control liquid supply upstream of the temperature control device.
