DIALYSIS SYSTEM AND METHODS
Dialysis systems and methods are described which can include a number of features. The dialysis systems described can be to provide dialysis therapy to a patient in the comfort of their own home. The dialysis system can be configured to prepare purified water from a tap water source in real-time that is used for creating a dialysis fluid solution. The dialysis systems described also include features that make it easy for a patient to self-administer therapy.
DIALYSIS MACHINE AND CLEANING METHOD FOR THE DIALYSIS MACHINE
The invention relates to a dialysis treatment unit in which the connecting line to the central concentrate supply is also rinsed in the rinsing or cleaning process in order to prevent deposits therein.
STERILIZABLE PERITONEAL DIALYSIS CONNECTION DEVICE
A sterilizable connector may include a sterilization fluid reservoir to provide a sterilization fluid. The sterilizable connector may include a connector. The connector may include a first end to receive a first tube to connect to a medical device (e.g., directly or via one or more intervening components). The connector may include a second end to receive a second tube to connect to a patient (e.g., directly or via one or more intervening components). The connector may include a body to couple the first end to the second end to enable fluid transfer between the first tube and the second tube. The connector may include a body opening to couple to the sterilization fluid reservoir. The sterilizable connector may include a sterilization fluid injector to inject the sterilization fluid from the sterilization fluid reservoir to the connector.
SYSTEM FOR PERITONEAL DIALYSIS AND EXTRACORPOREAL BLOOD TREATMENTS
A dialysis system is disclosed that enables a patient to undergo both peritoneal dialysis and extracorporeal blood treatments. The system includes a base unit and a blood treatment unit configured to perform extracorporeal blood treatments on a patient. The blood treatment unit includes a user interface operable with a controller for displaying a calendar of days in which an extracorporeal blood treatment is scheduled to be performed. The base unit includes a base unit controller that is programmed to receive information indicative whether a peritoneal dialysis treatment or the extracorporeal blood treatment is to be performed. The base unit controller operates first software instructions when the base unit uses a first fluid stored in a fluid container when the peritoneal dialysis treatment is selected or operates second software instructions when the base unit uses a second, different fluid from an online source when the extracorporeal blood treatment is selected.
BLOOD TREATMENT SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Dialysis systems comprising actuators that cooperate to perform dialysis functions and sensors that cooperate to monitor dialysis functions are disclosed. According to one aspect, such a hemodialysis system comprises a user interface model layer, a therapy layer, below the user interface model layer, and a machine layer below the therapy layer. The user interface model layer is configured to manage the state of a graphical user interface and receive inputs from a graphical user interface. The therapy layer is configured to run state machines that generate therapy commands based at least in part on the inputs from the graphical user interface. The machine layer is configured to provide commands for the actuators based on the therapy commands.
Device for delivery of antimicrobial agent into a medical device
A system, method, and article for delivering an antimicrobial agent into the lumen of a trans-dermal catheter are disclosed. In an embodiment, the system comprises an elongate member configured for insertion into a lumen of a catheter, and the elongate member containing an antimicrobial. In the alternative an antimicrobial agent can be placed on an interior surface of a retaining ring.
SYSTEM AND METHOD TO EFFICIENTLY CLEAN A BLOOD FILTER
A peritoneal dialysis apparatus includes a filter and a dialysis fluid circuit in fluid communication with the filter. The peritoneal dialysis apparatus also includes a pump for pumping fresh dialysis fluid to a peritoneum of a patient via the dialysis fluid circuit and pumping used dialysis fluid from the peritoneum of the patient through the dialysis fluid circuit and the filter. The peritoneal dialysis apparatus further includes a selective air access in fluid communication with the dialysis fluid circuit and a control unit configured to control the pump during a peritoneal dialysis treatment and a filter cleaning sequence. The control unit forms a fluid mixture during a filter cleaning sequence by opening the selective air access to mix air with a physiologically safe fluid. The fluid mixture is transferred across insides and/or outsides of the filter at least one time.
System and method to efficiently clean a blood filter
A renal therapy apparatus includes a blood filter, a blood pump, a treatment fluid pump, and a control unit configured to control at least one of the blood pump or the treatment fluid pump during a filter cleaning sequence. The blood filter includes a plurality of hollow fiber membranes. During the filter cleaning sequence, a fluid mixture is formed by mixing air with a blood-compatible and physiologically safe fluid. Also during the filter cleaning sequence, the fluid mixture is transferred across insides and/or outsides of the plurality of hollow fiber membranes at least one time. The use of the fluid mixture enables the filter cleaning sequence to be performed during the blood treatment.
