A device for extracorporeal blood treatment, in particular a dialysis device, including an internal fluidic system for a treatment liquid, in particular for a dialysis liquid, the internal fluidic system having at least two liquid connectors for connecting a substantially cylindrical filter element, in particular a dialyzer, to the internal fluidic system for passing a treatment liquid through the filter element, and including a mounting for exchangeably holding the filter element in such a way that the filter element can be connected to the liquid connectors of the internal fluidic system and to an extracorporeal blood line in an intended manner, wherein the mounting for holding the filter element is designed in such a way that a cylinder longitudinal axis of the filter element is substantially horizontally aligned.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETECTING AN EMPTY WB CONTAINER
20200384169 · 2020-12-10 ·

A system and method are provided for separating previously-collected whole blood into a red blood cell fraction and a plasma fraction by which the container of previously-collected whole blood is determined to be empty based on using the combination of the measured gross weight of the container and a calculated fluid flow rate from the container, based on weigh scale feedback. Upon detection of the empty container, flow from the container is stopped.

FLUID PUMPING DEVICE AND BLOOD PURIFYING APPARATUS HAVING THE SAME
20200353147 · 2020-11-12 ·

Provided is a blood purifying apparatus having a fluid pumping device, which further includes first to sixth chambers each having an internal space, a chamber pressurizing member compressing or expanding the internal spaces of the fluid chambers, a chamber pressurizing member driver driving the chamber pressurizing member, and a flow controller. The chambers are each connected with a first flow tube through which a fluid is provided to the chamber and a second flow tube through which a fluid of the chamber is discharged therefrom. The flow controller controls a flow passage through the flow tubes connected to the first to fourth chambers.

Separating Composite Liquids

Described are embodiments that include methods and devices for separating composite liquids into components. Embodiments involve the use of a flexible membrane for separating a composite liquid into components. The composite liquid may include, in embodiments, a cellular containing liquid, such as whole blood or components of whole blood. In one specific embodiment, the composite liquid is a buffy coat.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING A MEDICAL PREPARATION USING A PERISTALTIC PUMP

The invention relates to a method and a system for synthesizing a medical preparation, a peristaltic pump being used for pumping liquid from a plurality of source containers. According to the invention, micro-amounts are extracted only in the linear region of the peristaltic pump.

A pressure measuring device 30 installs on a tube 11 for transferring a medium BL so as to measure a pressure of the medium BL inside the tube 11. The pressure measuring device 30 includes a main body portion 31 mountable to the tube 11, polarizing means 34 disposed in the main body portion 31 so that light oscillating in a specific direction is transmitted therethrough, an image acquisition unit 32 disposed in the main body portion 31 so that image information on a pressure receiver that is deformed in response to the received pressure is acquired through the polarizing means 34, and a control unit 100 that converts the image information acquired by the image acquisition unit 32 into pressure information about the pressure.

Plasma extractor

A filtration cell (10) for a biological sample having an outer housing (12) defining a first chamber and an inner housing (14) defining a second chamber is disclosed. The inner housing is disposed within the first chamber and rotatable with respect to the outer housing and at least a portion of the inner housing includes a filtration membrane (52). Upon rotation of the inner housing, a first portion of the biological sample passes from the first chamber into the second chamber and a second portion of the biological sample is restrained in the first chamber. Alternatively, the filtration cell may also include a rotation element disposed in the inner housing. Upon rotation of the rotation element with respect to the inner housing, a first portion of the biological sample to passes from the second chamber into the first chamber and a second portion of the biological sample is restrained in the second chamber.

Extracorporeal gas exchange devices, systems and methods

An extracorporeal gas exchange device includes a housing, a rigid shaft rotatable within the housing, a plurality of agitation mechanisms positioned on the rigid shaft, and a plurality of hollow gas permeable fibers adapted to permit diffusion of gas between fluid flowing within the housing and an interior of the plurality of hollow gas permeable fibers. The plurality of hollow gas permeable fibers are positioned radially outward from the plurality of agitation mechanisms. The rotational speed of the rigid shaft is adjustable independent of the flow rate of fluid through the housing.
