AUTOMATED PERITONEAL DIALYSIS DEVICE, SYSTEM AND METHOD OF CUSTOMIZING DIALYSATE SOLUTIONS
An automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) device, system and method is provided, which utilizes mechanisms to admix customized dialysate solutions from multiple sources, while maximizing volumetric accuracy. The present automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) device can accomplish these goals all within the convenience and comfort of the patient's home utilizing filtered tap water.
Systems and methods for plasma separation and UV irradiation
The present invention is a UV light box, systems, and methods for irradiating plasma.
A BLOOD HOSE SET, A CONTROL DEVICE OR CLOSED-LOOP CONTROL DEVICE, A BLOOD TREATMENT APPARATUS AND A METHOD FOR THE SINGLE-NEEDLE TREATMENT
The present disclosure relates to a blood hose set, or to an extracorporeal blood circuit, for a single-needle treatment. In some embodiments, the set includes: a patient hose line and a Y-shaped connector or three-way connecter, which is connected to the patient hose line.In some embodiments, the blood hose set does not include any single-needle chamber in a blood path or on a blood side, nor is it connected to any single-needle chamber provided in a blood path or on a blood side. The present disclosure further relates to a control device or closed-loop control device, a blood treatment apparatus, a method for the single-needle treatment, a digital storage medium, a computer program product and a computer program.
COMBINATION WEARABLE AND STATIONARY DIALYSIS SYSTEMS
A system for hemodialysis can include a first dialysis system and a second dialysis system configured to be used in alternate fashion to provide hemodialysis for a patient, wherein the first dialysis system is configured to be worn by the patient, and wherein the second dialysis system is configured to be positioned on a support independent of the patient. The first dialysis system can be configured to be coupled to a belt worn by the patient around a waist of the patient during its operation. The second dialysis system can configured to be coupled to a stationary support during its operation.
EXTRACORPOREAL MEMBRANE OXYGENATION APPARATUSES AND METHODS OF THEIR PREPARATION AND USE
The present disclosure provides extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) apparatuses treated to comprise lubricating liquid surfaces, hydrophobic or omniphobic surfaces, and/or fluid and solid repellant slippery surfaces that do not stimulate clotting and thrombus formation to the same degree as do the untreated surfaces. The apparatuses permit ECMO procedures to be conducted using less anticoagulant and/or antiplatelet medications than is possible with untreated apparatuses. Also described are methods of using the treated apparatuses to accomplish ECMO procedures on subjects (e.g., human patients) and upon perfused organs.
Removable pressure sensor and extracorporeal circulator provided with removable pressure sensor
A removable pressure sensor assembly senses a pressure in an elastically deformable tube conveying blood in an extracorporeal circulator. The assembly includes a main body portion 31 and a pressure measurement element 40 disposed in main body portion 31. Main body portion 31 has a base portion 32 with a tube mounting recessed portion 34 such that an intermediate part of a tube 11 is removably fitted such that tube 11 is elastically deformed. Pressure measurement element 40 is exposed to tube 11 so that it measures a pressure of blood inside tube 11. A lid portion 33 holds tube 11 inside tube mounting recessed portion 34 by selectably closing recessed portion 34 of the base portion. Tube mounting recessed portion 34 has a rectangular cross section, and a width L of the rectangular cross section is set to be smaller than an external dimension D of tube 11.
APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING AN EXTRACORPOREAL BLOOD TREATMENT
An extracorporeal blood treatment apparatus is provided comprising a filtration unit connected to a blood circuit and to a dialysate circuit; a control unit is configured for calculating a sodium concentration value for the blood; the estimation of the sodium concentration includes the sub-step of calculating the sodium concentration value as an algebraic sum of a main contribution term based on the isoconductive sodium concentrate and of an offset contribution term based on a concentration of at least a substance in the dialysis fluid chosen in the group including bicarbonate, potassium, acetate, lactate, citrate, magnesium, calcium, sulphate and phosphate.
MEDICAL FLUID THERAPY MACHINE INCLUDING READILY ACCESSIBLE PNEUMATIC MANIFOLD AND VALVES THEREFORE
A connection apparatus for sealing to a pathway of a mounting structure includes a body; and a port including a threaded portion extending from the body and a non-threaded portion extending from the threaded portion, the non-threaded portion carrying a gasket, the gasket positioned along the non-threaded portion such that the mounting structure to which the connection apparatus is mounted contacts the gasket prior to the threaded portion engaging a mating threaded portion of the mounting structure, the port providing fluid communication between the body and the pathway of the mounting structure. The body may be that of a valve that supplies any of air, water or oil as an operating fluid to, for example, inlet and outlet valves and a pump chamber of a medical fluid pump of a medical fluid delivery machine.
Percutaneous catheter and method of using percutaneous catheter
A percutaneous catheter is disclosed through which blood passes. The percutaneous catheter having a catheter tube including a first tube and a second tube, the second tube being in fluid communication with the first tube, the first tube having an inner diameter greater than an inner diameter of the second tube, and wherein the first tube is more flexible than the second tube.
Dialysis machine and ultrafiltration
The invention relates to a dialysis machine capable of performing ultrafiltration without the need for a dedicated ultrafiltration pump. The system uses a pair of membrane flow balance pumps wherein the operation and/or the volume flow rate of the pumps can be modified during operation to bring about a net movement of dialysate either into or from the dialyser. The direction of flow of the dialysate in the dialyzer is reversible and the dialyzer can comprise two dialysate inlets, one at each end, and two dialysate outlets, one at each end.
