Protection of Flexible Members
Methods, systems, and devices are provided for protecting a flexible member, such as a cable, tube, capillary, fiber, and other similar structures. In an exemplary embodiment, a modular device can include multiple modules that are configured to engage a flexible member. Each module can be configured to couple to a flexible member by an interference fit and to removably mate to another module. Once assembled, the modules can allow movement in a particular direction to allow some flexion of a flexible member extending therethrough.
Joint assembly for crash test dummy
A joint assembly for a crash test dummy includes a first joint member for connection to a first member of the crash test dummy. The joint assembly also includes a first ball member received by the first joint member. The joint assembly includes a second ball member spaced from the first ball member. The joint assembly also includes a second joint member for connection to a second member of the crash test dummy. The second joint member receives the second ball member and is operatively connected to the first joint member. The joint assembly further includes an adjustable member operatively cooperating with the first ball member and the second ball member to move the first ball member and the second ball member toward and away from each other to adjust a friction tightness of the joint assembly.
Bolted-ball ball-and-socket pivoting joint assembly
A pivoting joint assembly includes a base, a plate, and at least one bolt. The base has one or more semi-spherical sockets with each socket having a centrally-positioned hole extending through the base. The plate has one or more semi-spherical sockets recessed within the plate with aligned semi-spherical protrusions extending from the plate. The plate has a hole extending through a central portion of each of the plate's sockets and a corresponding protrusion aligned therewith. Each protrusion is partially fitted in a corresponding socket in the base. Each bolt has a head and a post extending from the head. The head includes a semi-spherical portion adjacent to the post. The post extends through aligned holes in the plate and base. The post is coupled to the base such that the semi-spherical portion of bolt's head nests within one of the plate's sockets.
APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR MODELING TUBING RUNS
A modeling assembly (100) for layout of rigid tubing comprises a first releasable coupling assembly (110) and a second releasable coupling assembly (120). The modeling assembly (100) also comprises a lockable adjustment assembly (130) comprising a first component (140) and a second component (150). The first component (140) is configured to be removably coupled to an end A of a first rigid tube (102) via the first releasable coupling assembly (110). The second component (150) is configured to he removably coupled to an end C of a second rigid tube (104) via the second releasable coupling assembly (120). With the lockable adjustment assembly (130) in the loose coupled state, the first component (140) and the second component (150) have only three degrees of freedom relative to each other. With the lockable adjustment assembly (130) in the locked coupled state, the first component (140) and the second component (150) have zero degrees of freedom relative to each other.
Double ball and socket joint
A double ball and socket joint is formed of a two-piece capsule. Each piece of the capsule carries a ball and extension combination that operates rotationally within a socket. The extensions exit the capsule through void spaces at both distal ends of the capsule. The two pieces of the capsule are preferably in snap-fit engagement. The result is that the double ball and socket joint of the present invention provides infinite combinations of rotation about five axes of rotation: a first and a second axis of rotation about the first ball, a third and a fourth axis of rotation about the second ball, and a fifth axis of rotation is provided when the two pieces of the capsule are rotated relative to one another.
