An alarm device for a medical instrument includes a first alarm-signal sound output device which outputs a first alarm signal, an output determination unit which determines whether the first alarm-signal output device is outputting the first alarm signal during the specific alarm condition, and an alarm-signal-output stop unit 39 for manually clearing outputting of the alarm signal. The alarm device is configured so that when the output determination unit determines that the first alarm-signal output device has not output the alarm signal, a second alarm-signal output device outputs a second audible alarm signal distinctive from the first audible alarm signal. The alarm device is configured so that when the stop unit does not manually clear a selected alarm signal within a predetermined time after beginning output of the alarm signal, then an audible output characteristic of the alarm signal is changed.

ARTIFICIAL LUNG SYSTEM AND ITS METHODS OF USE

An oxygen supply unit for use with a blood oxygenator comprises an oxygen concentrator and a carbon dioxide scrubber. In an on-line operational mode, oxygen-rich gas from the oxygen concentrator is predominantly supplied to the blood oxygenator with a reduced flow of recycled gas from the concentrator. In an off-line operational mode where the oxygen supply unit is being powered by battery only, a larger flow of recycled gas from the blood oxygenator is passed through the carbon dioxide scrubber and combined with a lesser amount of oxygen-rich gas from the oxygen concentrator. The oxygen supply unit may be used in combination with a blood pump and oxygenator to provide ambulatory blood oxygenation to patients with compromised lung function.

DUAL LUMEN DRAINAGE CANNULA WITH SINGLE OUTLET

A dual lumen drainage cannula configured for use in a veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA ECMO) system includes a first drainage tube having a proximal end, a distal end, and at least one aperture defined in the distal end. The dual lumen drainage cannula further includes a second drainage tube having a proximal end, a distal end, and at least one aperture defined in the distal end. The dual lumen drainage cannula further includes an outlet fitting in fluid communication with the first drainage tube and the second drainage tube. The distal end of the second drainage tube is joined to a portion of the first drainage tube between the proximal and distal ends of the first drainage tube.

Hybrid venous reservoir

A system for cardiopulmonary bypass, including: a cardiopulmonary bypass reservoir configured to store a blood; a pump in fluid communication with the cardiopulmonary bypass reservoir configured to provide pressure to the system; an oxygen source including a pressure regulator configured to regulate an oxygen pressure; an oxygenator fluidly connected to the pressure regulator of the oxygen source via an sweep gas inlet, wherein the sweep gas inlet is configured to have a subatmospheric pressure and the oxygenator is configured to oxygenate the blood; a vacuum regulator fluidly connected to the oxygenator via an sweep gas outlet, and configured to provide the subatmospheric pressure; a flow restrictor fluidly connected to the sweep gas inlet and configured to allow for a pressure drop from the oxygen source to the oxygenator; and an arterial filter fluidly connected to a blood outlet of the oxygenator and to the cardiopulmonary bypass reservoir.

HYDROPHOBIC FILTER FOR FILTERING AN AIRFLOW OR ANOTHER GASEOUS FLOW IN A MEDICAL APPLICATION

A hydrophobic filter for filtering an airflow or another gaseous flow in a medical application comprises a housing encompassing a filter chamber, an inlet port arranged on the housing and forming an inlet opening, an outlet port arranged on the housing and forming an outlet opening, and a hydrophobic structure extending along a plane of extension and separating the filter chamber into an inlet chamber and an outlet chamber. The inlet opening opens into the inlet chamber and the outlet opening opens into the outlet chamber. Herein, the outlet opening opens into the outlet chamber at a first location when viewed along the plane of extension and the inlet opening opens into the inlet chamber at a second location different from the first location when viewed along the plane of extension.
