Alignment device for drilling or reaming an opening in a structure

Embodiments generally relate to an alignment device to assist in drilling or reaming an opening in a structure. The device comprises: a base element, the base element having at least one first fixation element to allow fixation of the device relative to the structure; a positioning element coupled to the base element, wherein a position of the positioning element relative to the base element is adjustable; an alignment element mounted to the positioning element and rotatable in at least two dimensions to allow precise alignment for a drilling or reaming tool with a drilling or reaming site on the structure; at least one second fixation element to allow fixation of the positioning element relative to the base element; and at least one third fixation element to allow fixation of the alignment element relative to the positioning element.

Bushing for drill template

A bushing for a drill template, the bushing has a head portion for receipt of a drill motor. The head portion has a top surface and a bottom surface with at least one pin protruding from the bottom surface of the head portion. The pin fits within a secondary opening in a template to help retain the bushing in place. A body portion extends from the bottom surface of the head portion. The body portion has an outer surface with a portion of it threaded. The body portion extends through a primary drill hole in the template. A fastening nut having inner threads mates with the outer threads on the body portion to lock the bushing to the template. A bore extends through the head portion and the body portion for receipt of a drill bit.

Tool alignment system and method

A system and a method include a fixture template configured to be secured to a component. The fixture template includes a plurality of insert holes. A plurality of guide inserts have channels. Each of the channels has an orientation. The orientation of at least two of the plurality of guide inserts differs. Each of the plurality of guide inserts is removably secured within a respective one of the plurality of inserts holes to position and orient the channels in relation to a pattern of openings to be formed in relation to the component. Each of the channels is configured to receive an operative member of a tool that is configured to form the pattern of openings in relation to the component.
