VERTICAL-EDGE DOUBLE-STEP SAWTOOTH CUTTER FOR PREPARING HIGH-QUALITY HOLES OF COMPOSITE MATERIAL AND HYBRID STACK STRUCTURE THEREOF
A vertical-edge double-step sawtooth cutter for preparing high-quality holes of composite material and thereof hybrid stack structure, and has three parts which are a major cutting edge region A, a minor cutting edge region B and a shank region C. The minor cutting edge region B comprises a step vertical-edge region D and a sawtooth cutting region E. This has the step structure and the sawtooth structure which is distributed in the first step, has a recutting function at the inlet and a reverse cutting function at the outlet in the direction opposite to the main cutting motion. The cutter has the vertical edge structure distributed in the second step, and the angle of the second step is a negative value, thereby realizing chip breaking and crushing, reducing scratch to the upper-layer composite material and metal hole walls.
Method and apparatus for limiting equipment burden when penetrating a mixed or composite material structure including metal utilizing a hammer-drill
A method employing an apparatus in conjunction with a hammer-drill to penetrate composite metal and non-metal structure or structures including, for example, thick metal or rebar encountered during concrete, rock or masonry boring operations without requiring a change in drill equipment.

Twist drill for advanced materials
The present invention is concerned with twist drills for drilling of composite materials such as carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) and glass fibre reinforced plastic (GFRP). The present invention proposes that a twist drill (2) is provided with a variable helix having a defined start and finish helix angle, in combination with primary and secondary relief angles such that the drill (2) is adapted to minimise thrust force, particularly when used for drilling fibre-containing composite materials and especially for hand drilling. Start and finish helix angles of 50 and 10; 50 and 30; and 30 and 10 have been shown to provide excellent cutting performance and exit hole quality. A large secondary chisel edge angle (24) has also been found to contribute to excellent performance with composite materials, including stack machining.
Device for opening connection to lined pipe
A device for opening a connection to a lined pipe is disclosed. The device has a body that includes a front end and a rear end and being rotatable about a rotation axis. The device also has a drill head that has multiple cutters for puncturing and enlarging a hole in a liner, and multiple side cutters have at least one cutting edge parallel to the rotation axis. A safety ring is disposed on the body between the drill head and the side cutters. The safety ring has a circular periphery extending beyond the drill head and the side cutters in a direction perpendicular to the rotation axis.
Rotary cutting tool having PCD cutting tip
A rotary cutting tool with an elongate body disposed about a longitudinal axis, the elongate body including a helical flute and a polycrystalline-diamond cutting tip. The cutting tip comprises an inner portion having an inner point angle and an outer portion having an outer point angle different from the inner point angle.
Step drill
A step drill bit has a cutting head defining a longitudinal axis and having a plurality of steps having different effective diameters. First and second cutting edges are formed in the cutting head. The first cutting edge and the second cutting edge are arranged such that the bit is asymmetric in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis relative to a plane containing the longitudinal axis. A rubbing surface is formed on each step where the rubbing surface extends to approximately the effective diameter of that step such that the first cutting edge, second cutting edge and the rubbing surface forms three points of contact with the side wall of the hole being cut.
Drill and method of manufacturing machined product
In an embodiment, a drill has an elongated shape and a rotation axis. The drill includes a drilling portion, a shank portion, and a tapered portion. The shank portion includes a first helical flute and a first cutting edge. The tapered portion is located between the drilling portion and the shank portion. The tapered portion includes a second helical flute, a second cutting edge, a chamfered part, and a connection part. The chamfered part is getting smaller gradually as moving toward the first end side. The connection part has a curved surface and connects the second cutting edge and the drilling portion. A ratio of w/L is 0.0015-0.5 where L is a length of the second cutting edge in a front view of the first end, and w is a width of an outer peripheral end of the chamfered part in a direction parallel to the rotation axis.
STEP DRILL BIT
A drill bit includes a shank and a body portion defining a plurality of axially stacked, progressively sized steps. The steps include a first step and a terminal step. The first step defines two tip flutes each disposed at a tip flute angle. The body portion defines a body flute extending through the steps. The drill bit also includes an indicator band formed on a portion of the body flute and a portion of an outer surface of one of the plurality of steps.
