Corrosion protection with Al/Zn-based coatings
Red rust staining of Al/Zn coated steel strip in “acid rain” or “polluted” environments can be minimised by forming the coating as an Al—Zn—Si—Mg alloy coating with an OT:SDAS ratio greater than a value of 0.5:1, where OT is the overlay thickness on a surface of the strip and SDAS is the measure of the secondary dendrite arm spacing for the Al-rich alpha phase dendrites in the coating. Red rust staining in “acid rain” or “polluted” environments and corrosion at cut edges in marine environments can be minimised in Al—Zn—Si—Mg alloy coatings on steel strip by selection of the composition (principally Mg and Si) and solidification control (principally by cooling rate) and forming Mg.sub.2Si phase particles of a particular morphology in interdendritic channels.
COPPER-SILVER COMPOSITE MATERIAL
The invention relates to a solid composite material comprising copper and an amount by volume of silver of less than about 5% by volume, relative to the total volume of said material, a process for manufacturing said material, and the uses of said material in various applications.
Polycrystalline diamond compacts and related methods
Embodiments of the invention relate to polycrystalline diamond compacts (“PDCs”) and methods of fabricating polycrystalline diamond tables and PDCs in a manner that facilitates removal of metal-solvent catalyst used in the manufacture of polycrystalline diamond tables of such PDCs.
System having layered structure and method of making the same
A system includes a layered structure. The layered structure includes first and second coalesced layers and an intermediate layer disposed between the first and second coalesced layers. The first and second coalesced layers have a higher degree of coalescence than the intermediate layer.
Metal alloy core-shell nanoparticles and related methods
Metallic nanoparticles and related methods of making and using the same are described herein. An aqueous synthesis method is used to create nanoparticle cores comprising alloys of two or more metals at varying metal:metal molar ratios. In some embodiments, the nanoparticle cores described herein form a homogeneous metal alloy. Alternatively, the nanoparticle cores form a heterogeneous metal alloy. The synthesis method can further comprise forming mixed metal oxide shells on the nanoparticle cores.
Laminate of ceramic layer and sintered body of copper powder paste
Provided is a laminate of a sintered body produced by sintering a copper powder paste and a ceramic substrate, which has improved adhesion between the sintered body and the ceramic substrate. A laminate with a copper powder paste sintered body laminated on a non-metal layer, wherein the copper powder paste sintered body has a crystal grain diameter of copper of 10 μm or less, as determined from an EBSD map image, based on Area Fraction method, and has an average reliability index (CI value) of 0.5 or more in an analysis area.
MAGNETIC CORE, MAGNETIC COMPONENT AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE
To obtain a magnetic core having an improved withstand voltage property while maintaining a high relative magnetic permeability, and the like. The magnetic core contains large particles observed as soft magnetic particles having a Heywood diameter of 5 μm or more and 25 μm or less and small particles observed as soft magnetic particles having a Heywood diameter of 0.5 μm or more and less than 5 μm in a cross section. C1<C2 is satisfied in which an average circularity of the small particles close to the large particles is C1 and an average circularity of all small particles observed in the cross section including small particles not close to the large particles is C2. The small particles close to the large particles are defined as small particles whose distance from centroids of the small particles to a surface of the large particles is 3 μm or less.
Flow-conducting component
A flow-conducting component having at least one functional region for contact with a flowing medium and at least one functional region having supporting characteristics is provided. The two functional regions are produced from a material by successively solidifying layers using radiation in a manner that provides different material characteristics in the different functional regions.
COATING FOR STEEL, COATED STEEL AND A METHOD OF THE SAME
A coating process employing coating techniques which allow an end-user to coat steel, rather than relying on a specialized location or supplier, is provided. The techniques produce a coating having high temperature oxidation resistance, greater corrosion resistance, and added surface lubricity to minimize die wear during a stamping process. The techniques also allow configurability with surface textures and allow thickness control. In addition, selective coating of a part or product, for example, around a weld area, and the addition of componentry, for example sensors, with the sensors being employed to monitor the coating, is possible. The coating includes a top functional layer including least one of Al, Ni, Fe, Si, B, Mg, Zn, Cr, h-BN, and Mo, and an interfacial layer with intermetallics formed therein. The interfacial layer can consist of at least one intermetallic, or the interfacial layer can include a mixture of the intermetallic(s) and steel.
