Plated steel

A plated steel includes: a steel; a zinc based electroplated layer formed on a surface of the steel; and an organic resin coating layer formed on a surface of the zinc based electroplated layer, in which the surface of the zinc based electroplated layer has hairline extending in a predetermined direction, Ra (ML) measured on the surface of the zinc based electroplated layer is 0.10 to 0.70 μm, on the surface of the zinc based electroplated layer, a peak number PPI measured in a hairline orthogonal direction with a reference level of 10 μinch satisfies PPI≥350×Ra (MC) with respect to Ra (MC), on a surface of the organic resin coating layer, Ra (CC) satisfies Ra (CC)/Ra (CL)≥1.10 with respect to Ra (CL), and Ra (CC) satisfies Ra (CC)<Ra (MC) with respect to Ra (MC).

A material includes a sheet of metal having a first face and an opposed second face, and a metal grain direction. The first face is textured with a first set of texturing features. Each texturing feature of the first set includes, respectively, a groove cut into the first face and extending along a groove axis, and a barb extending from the groove and away from the first face. The texturing features of the first set are arranged in a plurality of rows, and the groove axes of the texturing features in a given row extend generally parallel to the given row. The rows are generally non-perpendicular to the grain direction.

Metal coating of objects using plasma polymerisation pretreatment

A method for applying a metal on a substrate comprises: a) applying a coating by treatment in a plasma, comprising a compound selected from alkanes up to 10 carbon atoms, and unsaturated monomers, and b1) producing polymers on the surface of the substrate, the polymers comprising carboxylic groups and adsorbed ions of a second metal, reducing the ions to the second metal, or alternatively b2) producing polymers on the surface, bringing the surface of the substrate in contact with a dispersion of colloidal metal particles of at least one second metal, and c) depositing the first metal on the second metal. Advantages include that materials sensitive to, for instance, low pH or solvents can be coated. Substrates including glass, SiO.sub.2 with very few or no abstractable hydrogen atoms as well as polymer materials containing halogen atoms can be coated with good adhesion.

A joint structure includes: a first same-type metal member; a second same-type metal member that can be mutually welded with the first same-type metal member; and a different-type member that has a penetrating portion, is interposed between the first same-type metal member and the second same-type metal member. In the plate thickness direction of an emission region in which a laser beam is emitted toward the penetrating portion, the plate thickness at the emission region of the first same-type metal member positioned on the side on which the laser beam is emitted is a predetermined thickness corresponding to a first gap. The first same-type metal member and the second same-type metal member are fused and bonded together via the penetrating portion, and the different-type member is compressed and fixed, such that the different-type member is fixed to the first same-type metal member and the second same-type metal member.
