Method of producing a filament wound curved product and product obtained thereby
The invention relates to a curved product, and in particular an armor product. The armor product is produced by a filament winding process in which a plurality of reinforcing elements in the form of fibers and/or tapes are impregnated with a polymer matrix and wound onto a mandrel. The polymer matrix comprises a solution and/or dispersion of a polymer in a carrier fluid, which carrier fluid is at least partly evaporated during and/or after winding. The armor product comprises a high amount of reinforcing elements with respect to the total mass of the product.
HOLLOW WALL COMPOSITE TUBE, METHODS OF PRODUCTION AND USES THEREOF
Hollow wall curable and cured composite tubes for improving performance in sports shafts, lightweight applications, and lightweight structural members, are described herein and include: a constituent tube, for forming the hollow wall composite tube, that comprises an evacuable flexible core component on which to wind or braid filaments or fabric, and at least one braid filament or at least one fabric for providing a reinforcing fiber matrix for saturation with an epoxy material, spirally wrapped, applied or braided on the flexible core component. Methods for producing and using the same are also disclosed herein.
Reinforced polymeric articles
Polymeric article reinforced with a reinforcing component. The reinforcing component includes a composition made from at least one polymer and graphene sheets.
Intermediate materials produced by means of intertwinning by interlacing voile yarns
The present invention provides an intermediate material composed of an assembly of overlapping and interlaced tapes, characterized in that at least some of the tapes, preferably all of the tapes, known as veiled tapes, are composed of a series of reinforcing yarns or filaments that extend in a direction parallel to the length of the tape to form a unidirectional sheet that is associated on each of its faces with a nonwoven formed from thermoplastic fibers, said two nonwovens providing said veiled tape with cohesiveness because of their thermoplastic nature, to a production method using said material for producing composite parts, and to the composite parts obtained.
Recycled polyethylene terephthalate compositions, fibers and articles produced therefrom, and methods for producing same
In one aspect, the invention relates to recycled polyethylene terephthalate compositions, fibers and articles produced therefrom, and methods for producing same. In a further aspect, the invention relates to homogenized post-consumer polyethylene terephthalate. In a further aspect, the invention relates to extruded polymer compositions, polymer mixtures, fibers, and/or Bulked Continuous Filament fibers comprising post-consumer polyethylene terephthalate. In a further aspect, the invention relates to processes for preparing recycled polyethylene terephthalate compositions. This abstract is intended as a scanning tool for purposes of searching in the particular art and is not intended to be limiting of the present invention.
Method for forming a fabric preform for a composite material by separately tensioning tows
Disclosed are methods and devices for the formation of fabric preforms that may be subsequently impregnated with a resin to form a composite component. One end of the fabric is received on the form such that the axial tows of the fabric extend in a direction generally perpendicular to a central axis of the form. At least some of the plurality of axial tows are separately tensioned on an end of the fabric not attached to the form and the fabric is wrapped around the form by rotating the fabric and form relative to one another about the central axis.
Methods and apparatus to prevent failures of fiber-reinforced composite materials under compressive stresses caused by fluids and gases invading microfractures in the materials
Methods and apparatus are described to use real-time measurement systems to detect the onset of compression induced micro-fracturing of fiber-reinforced composite materials. Measurements are described to detect the onset of compression induced micro-fracturing of fiber-reinforced composite materials to prevent catastrophic failures of aircraft components containing such materials. Methods and apparatus are described to prevent fluids and gases from invading any compression induced microfractures by coating surfaces of fiber-reinforced materials to reduce the probability of failure of such fiber-reinforced materials.
Flexible packaging materials and methods of making and using same
Packaging materials are disclosed, along with packages formed therefrom and methods for forming the packages.
REINFORCED POLYMERIC ARTICLES
Polymeric article reinforced with a reinforcing component. The reinforcing component includes a composition made from at least one polymer and graphene sheets.
