SEAM TAPE AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURE AND USE THEREOF
Provided herein are seam tapes and related methods. The seam tapes can be compatible with polyolefin-based waterproof/breathable (w/b) membranes, including polypropylene (PP) w/b membranes and/or polyethylene (PE) w/b membranes. Also provided are seams sealed by means of these seam tapes, as well as materials, fabrics, and garments including one or more of these sealed seams.
MATTING SYSTEM
Improved containment mats and systems of containment mats may include multiple adjoining mats with a top surface and a bottom surface. The multiple mats may provide a modular structural mat system that may be installed at a drill site, with multiple mats placed adjacent to each other with a lap joint connecting adjacent mats. A geotextile may be used to cover the lap joints and a coating applied to the geotextile. Such a system may provide containment of potential spills, a reliable working surface for drilling operations, and relatively fast and less expensive installation.
FABRIC HAVING A WATERPROOF BARRIER
Provided herein are ecologically friendly waterproof fabrics that include a base fabric having a body-facing surface and an outward-facing surface, and a hydrophobic, waterproof barrier disposed on the outward-facing surface of the base fabric. The base fabric may be a wicking fabric or may be treated with a compound that enhances wicking, and the hydrophobic, waterproof barrier may include a plastic polymer, polyurethane, polyethylene, and/or polytetrafluoroethylene. The waterproof fabrics also may include an abrasion-resistant coating and/or a PFC-free durable water repellant (DWR) agent disposed on an outward-facing surface of the hydrophobic, waterproof barrier, and one or both of the abrasion-resistant coating and/or PFC-free DWR agent may be discontinuous. Also provided are methods of making a waterproof fabric.
Method for creating an adhesive bond using an elastomeric material
Embodiments herein provides a system for creating an adhesive bond using elastomeric material. The system includes the steps of (i) a first material, the first material having a first material length and a first material width, (ii) a second material, the second material having a second material length and a second material width, (iii) a gap between the first material and the second material, (iv) an elastomeric material substantially filling at least a portion of the height and length of the gap between the first material and the second material. The gap includes a height and a length. The height being substantially equal to a distance between the first material and the second material and the length being substantially orthogonal to the height and defined by a degree of overlap between the first and second materials.
Hybrid sheet, such as a security sheet, formed by assembling a fibrous part and a plastic part
The invention relates to a sheet of a given size, having a rear face and a front face. The invention is characterised in that it includes at least one part which is made from fibrous material and at least one other part which is made from plastic material and which is adjacent to the fibrous part, said parts being joined at a zone in which the two materials overlap. The plastic part at least partially forms a side zone of the sheet that is free of fibrous material and the plastic part includes at least one transparent or translucent zone.
Composite reinforcement component, structural element, aircraft or spacecraft and method for producing a composite reinforcement component
A composite reinforcement component for an aircraft or spacecraft, including a first element assembly aligned in a first extension plane, and a second element assembly aligned in a second, perpendicular, extension plane, the second element assembly intersecting the first element assembly at an intersection of the first and second extension planes. The first and second element assembly each have a pair of staggered comb components. Each comb component includes a base and a plurality of rectangular protrusions extending coplanar from the extension planes of the respective element assembly. The rectangular protrusions form comb teeth of one comb component which are overlapping with comb teeth of the other comb component of the pairs of comb components. The comb teeth of the first element assembly are offset along the intersection by a single comb tooth width with respect to the comb teeth of the second element assembly.
FIBER COMPOSITE COMPONENT ASSEMBLY HAVING AT LEAST TWO PLATE-SHAPED COMPOSITE STRUCTURES AND PROCESSES FOR PREPARING SAME
A method for producing a fiber composite component assembly having at least first and second plate-shaped composite structures made from synthetic resin embedded fibers, the at least first and second fiber composite components having a plurality of partial regions not containing synthetic resin is described. The method includes positioning the at least first and second fiber composite components, the partial regions having been brought to flush conformity with each other, bonding the at least first and second positioned fiber composite components by the adhesive layer arranged in between, placing mechanical reinforcement means through the partial regions, infusing the dry partial regions with synthetic resin, and curing the synthetic resin placed in the partial regions.
Polymer seaming using diffusion welds
The present invention is a method for seaming a polymeric material. The method involves forming an interface between a plurality of separate polymeric sheets of materials. Next, heat and pressure are applied to facilitate the diffusion of the polymer molecules at the interface. A diffusion weld is made when the polymer molecules diffuse across the interface.
